Guest speaker critique 2

Patrick Bartlett was the guest speaker into our class with students as the audience. He made a very lively presentation about himself being the manager of Trump hotel. The speaker made the session to be very interactive and worth listening due to various presentation techniques that he was able to employ. First, he opened up the presentation with a very nice ice breaker with introduced a warm and welcoming atmosphere from which the audience would be friendly throughout the presentation.

Patrick was very brief and precise and all the few points he made reached home as any presenter would intend. The way his presentation was structured shown his excellence in making presentations. This was accompanied by the speech techniques that could communicate the seriousness of the matter whenever emphasis was made.

This great guest was also perfect in introducing a healthy dose of humor. This made the audience to remain on toes and grasp every statement that was made. Humor indeed proved to bring the audience back to track whenever the session became boring. The topic of hospitality despite being repeated a thousand times sounded new as a result of the presenting skills that he embraced.

Finally, the guest was really gifted in using the gestures which supported the perfect audibility to make sure that points were well understood. As a sign of satisfaction, some of the students could ask questions of clarity and some made comments to put more emphasis. Some shared their opinions with regard to the topic and the presentation was concluded in a perfect way. Patrick’s way of presenting is amazing and so the students ought to learn from him.

The Fault in Our Stars

In this novel, Hazel is who is a cancer patient is forced by her parents to join a support group and during this time she fell in love with an amputee who was an ex-basketball who was also in the support group. This portrays Hazel as a perfect lover.

Hazel portrays her kindness as a character and the concern she had for Augustus who was then her boyfriend. Hazel had the virtue of kindness in her as she recognized and accepted Augustus for who he was. They were helpful and supportive to each other and nothing was expected in return. They helped each other to make themselves happy by “opening up and becoming part of the group” (Margules, 12).

From the novel, it is true to say that Hazel was a caring girl to both her parents and to her boyfriend. Hazel said to her mom “I refuse to attend support group” (Margules, 7). She did not want to attend the support group. She did it for her parent rather than herself. This shows an act of caring. She was tender and kind-hearted because she embraced the act of taking care of her boyfriend when he fell ill.

Hazel was a loving girl to her parent “I love u too mom” Hazel said (Margules, 8). Her heart was filled with love since she showed great care. She was affectionate, devoted and solicitous throughout. She demonstrated her act of love throughout even in the support group despite each disability that was as a result of cancer. She loved Augustus even though he was a cancer patient just like her.

Through the novel, Hazel has been able to portray her acts of love, kindness and care despite being a cancer patient. Hazel plays a significant role that despite the challenges that one might be going through it should not be a limitation to do good or love. This makes Hazel a perfect lover to all including her parents and Augustus.

Topic 1

Chapter 5 talks about identity and intercultural communication. It defines identity as who we are, how other people think of us and how we communicate to others about who we are. The chapter gives an account that identity has a wider coverage including the gender identity, religious, and cultural identity. The issue of gender or sexual identity has been detailed with examples that clearly discuss the transgender, intolerance and the general contribution of this study to the development of the other types of identity like ethnic and cultural.

The chapter gives a detailed account about the racial identity which has been a modern phenomenon in U.S. It discusses about racial discrimination in the United States which is very true from the history and the current events.

Different communication styles that result due to difference in gender identity are also discussed. Women converse differently between them compared to how they communicate with men. This is also the case for men to men and man to woman conversation. Women are known to be supportive personal and revealing in communication as compared to men who are assertive (Martin &Nakayama, 2005).

Topic 4

Co-cultural communication theory gives a detailed description of the nature of language that exists between majority and the minority groups that exists in the society. Majority groups include men, the heterosexual the whites and others that dominate in various dimensions of life (Martin &Nakayama, 2005).

In most cases, the culture and the language of the majority is considered to be the universal and acceptable culture which leaves the minority in a struggle to free them from this perception. Minority groups in the society include the minor ethnic societies, women and the homosexuals.

For the co-cultural groups to adjust and be accommodated in the dominant society, they are subjected to adopt the various communication strategies. These strategies help the minorities to relate to the dominant groups failure to which they may not fit into the society. A good example is the assimilation strategy where the minority chooses to be calm and fit into the majority. An employee may choose to bear unfair treatment in order to retain his or her profession.

Topic 7

High context communication is less formal, based on understanding and internalization of the message and relational. There are very strong boundaries of the communication between the speakers whereby any outsider cannot take part in the conversation.

Low context communication on the other hand is codified, and public. The communication is also rule oriented whereby the conversant play by external rules. A good example of low context communication is sports, a cafeteria conversation or that in a chain supermarket.

High context communication describes how people with close connection that has lasted for a long period of time communicate. Low context communication on the other hand is the communication that exists between people with many connections that have lasted only for a short period of time (Martin &Nakayama, 2005).

For instance, when family members are conversing, they are able to get into details up to personal level because family is a high context environment. On contrary a seller and a buyer communicate in a low context on matters that concerns the deal between the two.

Topic 8

Effective communication is comprised of both the verbal and the non verbal communication. In addition, nonverbal communication contributes two thirds of the total communication and so both are equally important (Miller, 1988).

Both the verbal and the nonverbal are supposed to be coordinated. First, the body language should match the verbal message. That means that when a joyful message is passed, the facial expression should be cheerful rather than frowned. The emotions in words are not enough and so the appropriate gestures should apply.

The other coordination should be in symbolic communication. A action like thumbs up is a sign of agreement and this and other symbolic movements and gestures should at times substitute the verbal communication. There also other conversational gestures that do not represent any words or actions. They are supposed to accompany the speech for a harmonious delivery of the speech.

Topic 9

One of the most widely used nonverbal behaviors is the eye movement. Oculesics, study of different meaning from the eye behavior show that eye is the primary communicator of emotions. Different eye movements like gaze direction, pupil dilation and eye contact convey different messages depending on the situation (Miller, 1988).

Some of the basic emotions that are communicated via the eye include amusement, fear, guilt, sadness, pride, satisfaction shame or embarrassment and excitement among others. However the displays of emotions vary depending on time of the occurrence, the culture of the person and the attitude to the person among others.

For instance, if someone looks upwards, the viewers will automatically know that he is thinking over a critical issue. Looking straight into someone’s eyes is a sign of goodness. Looking down communicates submissiveness or guilt a person may be feeling. Glancing at someone communicates the urge to talk to that person or a sign of being attracted (Miller, 1988).

Who is a Writer?

Being a writer basically involves the use of written words with an aim of communicating an idea or a thought using various styles and performances. Different outputs are produced by different writers for instance, scripts, reports, screenplays, poems and novels. Good language is one of the major requirements for any skilled writer as this contributes meaningfully to the cultural satisfaction of the people (Baig & Barbara 232). Writers use other resources such as graphics, illustrations, fiction, genres and non-fictional resources as a way to ensure that ideas are communicated effectively.  Personally, I view the world in a way that is created by words rather than things. The way words bring out meaning is in a textural form and also aesthetically as it in writing a different meaning is given different from the one just spoken. As a writer I believe in writing the truth and I have knowledge on the utility of a lie. Writing is just but exciting as I write from personal and common experience using a familiar language to even my audience (Baig & Barbara 232).  The use of a writer’s voice which is rather a chameleon like character as I intend to use a voice in which is determined by what I am writing about.

It is however important for every writer to be equipped with relevant information and skills in writing. Thus I believe in attending some of the writing lessons I will be able to sharpen my writing skills, as well as gain knowledge on the best writing process to use and how to engage in a collaborative writing rather than a sole writing which have proved to be a hard task. In order to be successful in the lessons I believe that asking questions for clarity, taking down notes, engaging in answering questions are important things that will enhance my success.  Taking note in some of the examples that are given in class helps broaden the mind.

The issue of self-online presentation first considers the humanoid uniqueness which is an online individuality in which an internet user develops in the online societies and websites.  People always prefer to be unidentified as they distinguish themselves by methods that proof several amounts of individual information that is seen. Online representation is used in daily lives as it uses the pictures of drama for it to show the effectiveness of social interaction.  The current world is connected with the internet and specific representations of self through words and portraits. The internet videos are through connections such as Avatars which are in the online settings.  The online- self representation is hindered by the founder of online society in the virtual realities with the outset of the physical body. For the individuals that depict themselves through Facebook in ways such as pictures and messages, this contains an assortment of images that are intended to support individuality. Through this self-representation, one has to make and allot the portraits through their personal pictures (Attrill & Palgrave Connect, 2015).

Gaining the online identity is a main issue in the field of online society.  The notion of internet a site of identity states that users can or may represent themselves online in ways that do not record their physical bodies.  When online representation hinders the use of physical identities, the users who opt gender or sexuality to act or make substitute identities, make their online environments in the play is never reputed.  The capability of the users to change their performing identities or to act a series of different identities is a way of contravention of a remarkable idea of self-representation. The approach of the internet came to be critiqued when it considers the ideas of technical applications such as race, class and sex (Attrill & Palgrave Connect, 2015).

Perception as a communication barrier

Communication is the determinant factor that affects the success of a business or an organization. However an effective communication is not easily achieved due to various barriers that come in the process of communication (Kanu, 2009). Some of them include the emotional barriers, language barriers, perception barriers among others. I would like to focus my study on one of the most problematic issue towards an effective communication in business. This is perception barrier that comes about due to difference in opinion between people in a business (Holmes, 2012). The effect of perception comes about when the same message is interpreted differently by different people. Perception is dependent on several factors such as the experiences of the past, culture and personal feelings that a certain member may have (Madera, Dawson & Neal, 2014). Perception can cause damage to a business or an organization because the decisions made through the influence of perception may be biased or have other kinds of distortions. This essay will deeply discuss the issue of perception as a barrier to effective communication (Kanu, 2009).

Perception may take charge when people start stereotyping and generalizing. This is when people are overwhelmed by the tendency to see or fell what they like most. Out of it people make assumptions about a thing or a person from the simple experience they had had. Perception is also contributed by lack of enough time of investigation. This may leave out details of the circumstance that should have been considered. Misconceptions rather than facts are drawn from the misrepresentation hence becoming a barrier to an effective communication (Kanu, 2009).

When people have a distorted focus, they also tend to be subjected to this concept of perception. This is associated with negative attitudes that grow as a result of certain habits that are seen in the concerned people. Even if the positive things are noticed, people tend to lean towards the negative side of what had happened in the past. In many cases, the negative overshadows the positive.

Perception also comes about due to the experience of incongruent cues. Both the speakers and the listeners send cues. People at times fail to match the verbal and non verbal cues which bring a misinterpretation of the intended message. In this case the speakers are unable to express what they are talking about with the correct body language or expression.

Perception also gets attributed by making an assumption that all people have interpreted the message in the same way. When a message is passed across, different people tend to interpret these messages differently. Perception makes people to understand their own world. Interpretations therefore are made differently (Dam, 2016). In agreement to the message, people simply communicate that the message is within the boundaries of their perception.

Solutions to this barrier of communication are numerous though people find it hard to adapt or implement them in their daily business endeavors. However, people should consider adopting the solutions and live according to them. Perception may cause biasness and unfair judgment of the people involved (Kanu, 2009). First, one should analyze and question his or her own perceptions before making an assumption. This is accompanied by seeking other people’s views or comments on your perceptions.  Seeking other people’s comments will ensure that the actions that are taken satisfy the members who are directly or indirectly affected.

The other best way of overcoming the barrier of perception is by expecting the worst from others. This is a strategy that prepared people for anything out of those who are over or under them in terms of hierarchy in business. For instance, when an employee waits for the worst from his or her boss, he is surprised to find that boss may do something in his favor which is against his expectation. Contrary to this, one may expect appreciation for the job well done but gets surprised of how the boss reacts towards the same. This brings a disappointment (Rao.S.R., (2009).

People should focus on others by getting to know more about their knowledge on certain matters. This will bring down the issue of making assumption on people’s decision through generalizing. Seeking for clarification when a message is not clear is also an effective solution to perception (Madera, Dawson  & Neal, 2014). The speaker in this case should ensure that the listeners fully understand what was being communicated and not just assume that all have interpreted the instruction correctly.

Speakers and listeners should also aim at improving their perception (Dam, 2016). There is achieved through regular self evaluation. In this way people are able to identify the awareness barriers about the main barrier of perception. Checking oneself regularly improves honesty, and positive attitude towards others. As much as people should expect the worst from their colleagues, they should also work in ensuring that they don’t hurt others by the way they treat them. This can play an important role in eliminating the barrier of negative perception about others (Holmes, 2012).

Conclusion

Perception is a destructive barrier to effective communication and so the above recommended solutions should be considered. Speakers and listeners should aim at improving their perception, consider other people’s views, expecting the worst out of someone and giving the best service one can. Effective communication will bring harmony to the business and hence it shall succeed in all its operations.

Language and Gender

Language is an important tool of communication among human beings. In addition to strengthening the society, it also helps to maintain society’s social existence. Language reflects the perspective of gender and can cause an impact on how people perceive gender in over time (Talbot, 2010). Therefore, sociolinguists and feminists have tried describing the differences in how language is used between men and women. There has been an interest between language and gender within related disciplines and sociolinguistics. Linguistic anthropology studies focused on differences in gender speeches across various languages. In this case, distinct male and female language forms were identified. Gender has always been used as a social variable in quantitative studies ever since 1960s (Talbot, 2010). It was always founded that from every social class, women use more standard language features while men associated with vernacular features.

There are approaches that can help to relate between language and gender. Biological approach as initially focused on in language research accounted for the difference between men and women in their behavior of speech on lexical, morphological and phonological forms (Talbot, 2010). For instance, males have different voice characteristics from that of women. The cultural approach argues that females and males belong to a sub culture and their use of language is aimed to maintain identity in their groups (Talbot, 2010). Girls have a tendency of getting engaged in small groups of discussions and their speeches aim to build loyalty, intimate friendship, equality, a win-win situation and a always lack a desire of leading. Males are always contrary of this and they prefer to work in larger groups where they have a great concern of leading, status and control. They like showing skills and ability to act dominantly even in a midst of their leaders. Therefore, this cultural approach shows the difference on how genders of convey ideas on the way they converse.

On examining the power and dominance approach, several scholars claim that patriarch women have low social position hence standard language aims increase their self esteem. The difference in the interaction approach between the two genders is based on the assumption that males aim to dominate (Eckert & McConnell-Ginet, 2013). There is interpretation of problems of communication between the two genders due to difference in the status of hierarchy. Women were considered to use language forms in line with their low position. The forms of languages used by females include politeness, strategies, question intonations, etc. on the other hand, men’s language was an implicit tool for patriarchal power and they learnt to always dominate a conversation through having a talk time and interruptions (Eckert & McConnell-Ginet, 2013). However some of the traditional forms of language may not be applicable to the current two genders.

Findings

It has been discovered that women and men have a different forms of language. Women and men have varying expressions, personal representation and ways of conveying ideas. On use of online blogs like Facebook, women have unique features of communication different from those of men. Social media has been suggested to make way through in relationship (Hudson et al, 2015). 75% of couples stated that internet has a positive influence in their relationships and the highest percentage of social media users are women. They have a tendency of writing texts that arouse the curiosity of the readers. Females are well versed in expressing their feelings and in their expressions; they do have intimate closeness and a friendship which makes them easy to approach someone to talk to. It was also discovered through Face book posts that women do not always support issues of their fellow women but always have a negative view of their fellow women. It was also founded that women do not get asked and if they are asked, there is an assumption that you need one. Women are seen to be less experts unless to women issues (Hudson et al, 2015). Normally, women are associated with a prejudice of not speaking in public and in case one dares to speak out her opinion in public is at risk of being threatened. This case is different with online men. Men do not always express their thoughts to an individual but they like shouting it to their friends of Face book. Men may not be willing to express their thoughts face to face like the women do.

Another research from Northwestern University showed that men are more likely to share online their creative work such as music or art and around two thirds of them post their work online compared with half of women. When men are communicating through a technological channel, they always have a feeling of being less threatened and hence they can freely share their thoughts because they are not dealing with the other individual’s reactions directly. This is preferable for men because they easily get frustrated and always have a negative reaction for the frustration.

To be a woman means to be attractive and this is shown by the following physical traits which include vibe, body language, style, and social interaction. The aspects of femininity include the body type, hair style, and the dressing style. A woman with attractive qualities of these aspects is regarded more feminine (Santacreu-Vasut, Shoham & Gay, 2013). Appearance and dressing is another form of passing non verbal communication and most especially, women are judged depending on how they appear and dress which may not necessarily apply to men. Usually, women are being perceived frivolous or unimportantly basing on their code of dressing. For a woman to be taken serious, she has to be more careful on how she dresses. A woman aspect of femininity also involves body language, eye contact, demeanor and how she generally uses language (Santacreu-Vasut, Shoham & Gay, 2013). If a woman is so aggressive in her body language and voice, then she is more likely to appear less feminine. Therefore women can communicate what their true femininity through their physical appearance and dressing and they are judged by their attractiveness. However, this may not fully apply to men. While women dress to appear attractive, this is different with men because they dress to look presentable. They do less to make themselves attractive; however they have to look smart.

In an open mic music scene, women normally have a variety of what to dress on to fit a specific music scene (Santacreu-Vasut, Shoham & Gay, 2013). Women are good in creating a suitable fashion for every mic music in progress and their aim is always to look attractive and impress the author. Though men also dress what is suitable for a particular concert, they do not have a variety like it is the case with women.

In comparing the profiles of female friends on Face book and the profiles of the male friends, there is a systematic difference (Hudson et al, 2015). Profiles of female friends normally have a variety of photos compared to those of men and they are found of updating their photos every now and then due to the influence they get from comparing themselves to others (Santacreu-Vasut, Shoham & Gay, 2013). With men, they have a tendency of posting their issues and share them on face book.

Analysis on the findings

Language is expressed differently by people of different genders. This can be determined on how the two genders express themselves. Female expression is always different from how men express themselves. Majority of females have a tender expression and standard language while men are characterized with vernacular language always tough and irritating. Men are traditionally and naturally known to be leaders and their expression normally shows their strong quality of leadership which can even be revealed in their voices (Santacreu-Vasut, Shoham & Gay, 2013). Face book has always objectified women more on face book compared to their male counterparts and they spend averagely two hours in a day on face book and always check the sites in a short time interval. Majority of women compete on posting photos and uploading ever now and then, however, men prefer posting their creative works like music and art (Hudson et al, 2015). Men are also not found of expressing their issues face to face unlike females who find it easier. Normally men can easily get frustrated and that is the reason why they do not prefer face to face expression. Majority of women dress to look attractive and they are always judged based on their appearance.

After graduation the world will be beckoning and you got what it takes to tackle that. Remember you have got the power to make this life free and beautiful.

Indeed, family is very vital part of us and we ought to protect and comfort them when they are in dire need of us. The livelihood of America depends on the children so as to deliver us to the future and this just continuity from where we left. Let us be sober citizens when we are out there, let us be the kind of people who respect the bill of right in our constitution.

It does not cost anyone to be human enough to consider the unborn child just any other human being who deserves the breath of this world. None of us wants to be associated with a society which deems children as thought of miniature adults that in the olden days some children died so often and surprisingly mothers would not feel the loss. C’mon guys it is the twenty-first century for God’s sake. Let us be the kind of people who are mindful of the family values.

If it means going against the political will to correct the family values in the society, trust me I will that guy who will be in for that. For some reasons or the other mainly related to revolutionary thoughts whereby we see weird situation where parents make sacrifices not for anyone else but for his or her children alone. That is now what we ought to hear if we are indeed we value family and more so the children.

Let each and every person in this universe respect each other and for you graduates, you have a spot to make sure that you put a mark to the very society it feeds you. Abortion is what one can say is the ultimate solution with faced with unfortunates but I say no unless it is warranted by the doctor. Our parents so the importance of having a baby and the option of cutting off life never exist and for you want to end life of a another human being woe to you it is only God who will judge you.

It is free will choosing to commit to protect and secure our children future until the end.  We will be at our best. Protect them and they will be that generation who will protect you tomorrow, go against the policies and make sure they amend them for the sake of the children comfort since ultimately they will come back unto you.

It is my hope that through education we will award ourselves with bright future. By doing so, let us look at our families and help our society. Let us be remembered for making a change in the society. Make America great, foster the values. There is a brighter future waiting for you the graduates of today, you just need to work hard and be focused.

Thank you all for lending me yours ears.

INTERNATIONAL NEGOTIATION SKILLS

International negotiations involve negotiations between different states where it may occur to person to person across borders or between organizations. This is where two international parties with different ideologies and with varying conflict of interest reason out together and comes up with a consensus (Starkey et al 2010). Negotiation is, therefore, creating a neutral ground of decision in which conflicting parties feel satisfied.  International negotiations are used in various fields such as the diplomacy, law and in business field as it ensures people come to a standardized terms and decisions which are favorable to all. In business terms, international negotiations deal with business negations cross the state’s borders where business discussions take place. It is therefore important that all those who participate in caring out the negotiations to have proper tools and skills that would enhance them to negotiate effectively, avoid compromise, reach quickly to the contracted conclusions, to be able to confidently face the negotiations with improved energy and to sustain good relationships across borders (Powell 2011).

In learning this course I have been able to understand some of the key negotiation skills that are required in international business. For instance I have been able to understand the rationale for understanding and using different languages across the world so as to be able to communicate effectively with other business men as different people speak different languages. This has made it easier to carry out the international organizations. Another major lesson is that I have been able to identify with different styles that are appropriate in negotiating with people of varying cultures. This has enhanced my personal and business development. In understanding the way of life for different people I have been able to respect and to learn various ways in which different people interpret signs such as the body language and tone variation.

I have also been able to learn the appropriate negotiations questions that yield successful results by recognizing my targets and bargaining range and those of their negotiators. The course has also enabled me to deal with varying partners and to be able to build and maintain strong and lasting relations with different nations. It is has also enhanced me to understand the most suitable language of persuasion and the convincing power which I have been able to apply and it has so far yielded results. Also I have been able to build up a well planed strategy and procedures to deal with the movement from one geographic region to another so as to attain the preferred outcome. Lessons on creation of an advanced action plan to see me through the continued development of the skills. Confidence trait has also been enhanced while learning the course thus making me self-assured during the face to face negotiations.

I have thus been able to carry out a strength and weakness analysis on myself where I have identified some of my major strengths and weaknesses regarding the application of the international negotiation skills. The two are internal factors that either motivates me that is the strengths and those that discourages me that is my weaknesses. However it is important that I analyze the two so as to be able to convert my weaknesses by constantly working on them to enhance continued development.

Overtime I have engaged in different types of negotiations which has enabled me to develop certain negotiation capabilities that have enabled me to adapt to the right measures that would achieve perfect international negotiations. One of my major strength is that I have been able to understand the different personalities within different gender type thus I have developed strengths in cross gender negotiations. In doing this I ensure that am emotionally detached from the other party thus ensuring that no compromises are made during the negotiation period especially with the female.

I also have strength in handling integrative negotiation deals. Integrative negotiation, as opposed to distributive, are deals in which a single issue is transformed into multiple issues and arriving at a trade-off. I also have a strength in closing the best deal where am able to set higher prices when participating as a seller and purchasing at lower prices while am the buyer. I am a multilingual as I am capable of speaking in a number of languages and fluency in English has my communication to be so smooth and efficient as I have been able to understand be understood by my partners. Flexibility is also among my strengths as am able to respond to changes in the international market gaps and fluctuations as well.

However, I also have some of the weaknesses that have been acting as a drawback for me in this task. I have a problem in managing time as I find it difficult to set an actual framework as to when to start or end a negotiation and the duration to take in each negotiation process. I also have a weak point in understanding the different way of life of the people and the way they interpret things. I hate travelling thus I find myself only concentrating on non-facial communication while negotiating which is at time challenging.

Due to the increasing levels of the international conflicts, my negotiation goal is to move beyond my domestic environment and engage in cross-racial, cross-cultural and international negotiations. Achieving this goal would widen my scope of viewing the nature and attributions of different deals and conflicts that people face at a global perspective.

Motivation Speech Presentation

This was a motivational speech which was being moved by a motivational speaker known as Nadia. The speech presentation took place at the Wood Vale arena in New York. The speaker was ready for presentation and this was evident through the way she had groomed herself. The speaker had a nice brightly coloured suit ad her hair was very well plaited too, this made her to look spic and span. As she presented the speech, she moved and she even gave facial expressions particularly when talking about something that was painful. Her presentation was good since it was not long neither was it short thus allowing her to explain each and every point clearly. The rate at which she spoke and explained her points was also good as each and every one was able to understand the message.

The speaker paused at different times particularly after cracking a joke, by pausing, she gave room for the audience to acknowledge a sense of humour. She used a very simple language that could be understood by everyone thus passing the message effectively. In order to explain in detail, the speaker used gestures and in turn moved across the room, maintaining an eye contact with the audience as she moved through the audience and the at stage. The speaker would also from time to time ask the audience questions and make sure that everyone is participating.

The way the speaker presented the speech really attracted the attention of the audience thus making the audience to pay attention. Through cracking jokes and maintaining an eye contact with the audience, this made the speaker to steal the whole presentation hence the audience paid attention until she completed the presentation. The way she had groomed herself made everyone in the audience to pay attention since everyone admired the way she had dressed and respect her. The best techniques that she also used that I liked were maintaining an eye contact with the audience and cracking jokes. This two techniques were very effective since she was able to attract the attention of the audience thus making sure that no one fell asleep. On the other hand, this made her presentation lively since most people could be able to follow through her presentation.

The presentation was right, since it was neither long nor short. First and foremost the speaker had organized her work very well. This made her to present each and every point in an orderly way. Secondly, she explained the each and every point clearly and also gave an example on it before finally cracking a joke about the point. This allowed the audience to understand the audience to audience to understand each and every point and the examples made it easy for one to be able to put the points in practice.

The presentation was very good since it really suited the occasion as the speaker used examples of the issues which affected the audience thus making it easy for the audience to understand. Furthermore, the occasion was therefore enjoyable since the topic was covered in a very clear way. The audience were therefore satisfied with the message and this made them to be able to understand and to put in practice the lesson that they learnt. Thus the speech was suited for the audience as it was able to impact them positively.

Speech Presentation

According to my point of view, I think the audience at Wellesley possessed different types of strength and this included the knowledge of speech presentation. They knew how a speech is supposed to be composed, organized and moved. They also Knew, Barbara Bush was not good at speech presentation thus her speech could not be effective at all. In order to make my presentation effective, I could have first and foremost, researched about the topic, this could have allowed me to be able to know what am supposed to be talking about. Secondly, I could have written my speech in an orderly manner, starting from observing hierarchy of protocols, up to presenting my speech. Thirdly I would then plan on the way I would groom myself for the occasion to make sure that each and everything works well. Finally, I would read through the speech and internalize before presenting it to the audience. Since I know the type of the audience that I am supposed to be moving a speech too, I will make sure that each and everything is well and planned for in good time. This will not make the audience to have a preconceived idea about me. They will therefore want to know how much I can be able to offer them. Through grooming myself and planning the speech well, I will have cleared the audiences’ doubts and they will therefore respect me on first sight thus giving me full attention. After winning their attention, I will make sure that I explain very each and every point that I make without consuming much time. I would then provide an example before proceeding to crack a joke. The audience will definitely like and admire my presentation.
