Verizon acquisition

The deal where Verizon communications and Vodafone joined ventures to create Verizon wireless had a huge impact in improving the sustainability of resources as well as improving performance at Verizon. After the deal, Verizon owned 100% of what became known as Verizon Wireless allowing it to retain all the cash flow that was operated from its businesses (Case study 2). Through the deal, Verizon was able to better meet the needs of its customer as it was able to invest in different developing technologies meant to increase customer satisfaction. There was also an accretive impact that immediately pushed earnings to 10% after the deal was finalized (Case study 2). The deal gave Verizon the freedom to take advantage of opportunities promoting the company’s growth as soon as they presented themselves as a result of financial flexibility created. One of the opportunities is an unexplored market where a third of Verizon customers did not have cell phones and this allowed the company to benefit greatly from the new market created.

Verizon wireless was in a better position to use its resources well and also sustain its resources as the deal allowed Verizon to take advantage of developing trends in its target market. Through Verizon wireless, the company will be able to enter the digital cargo market and use its resources well to benefit from this new venture. Through digital cargo, Verizon will be able to create value not only for the wireless features but all other aspects on the company. It is estimated that video communication will account for about 70% of all the consumer traffic shared across the internet this year (Case study 2). At present, those providing services that deal with digital content find it difficult to operate via broadband when moving their content. However, with Verizon’s experience and the huge amount of wireless connections in its control, the company will be in a better position to use its resources to offer great performance and become a dominant force in the digital cargo industry.

Through the acquisition, Verizon was able to meet the two tests of broad scope namely product cost and product differentiation. Due to the services and products that Verizon wireless offers, it has grown to a level where it is a dominant leader in the wireless industry. Verizon wireless has taken up different ventures to ensure that its products and services are unique and better suited to meeting the customers’ needs. The company has embraced changes in technology and uses data networks and other new technology to ensure that customers across different demographics in its area of operation have access to its products. Through the acquisition, Verizon is able to offer unique products and services to its customer therefore meeting the product differentiation part of the test for broad scope (Case study 2).

In the case of product cost, the acquisition has enabled Verizon to offer a higher volume of products and services at a relatively low cost. At Verizon, only one percent, or even lower, out of the 103 million Verizon customers disconnect their services (Case study 2). The customer loyalty is as a result of the satisfaction with the high quality products and services that the company offers. Although the venture is expected to slightly increase the cost of various products and services, the customers understand that this is expected if they intended to enjoy the high quality products and services they enjoy from Verizon. The price increase is less likely to affect the demand for Verizon wireless products or push them to the competitors. The acquisition will therefore allow Verizon to control cost for its products in a way that is acceptable to customers as well as beneficial to the company when it comes to boosting its revenue (Lecture 1).

If a company is to be able to maintain its dominance it must ensure that it uses its resources to establish a different type of product and services that meet the target customers needs and still be able to sustain its dominance. Through the acquisition Verizon was able to offer better value to its customers (Case study 2). By offering greater value, Verizon is able to charge its customers high unit prices in return for higher efficiency especially in lowering the cost of average units. By offering high quality and unique products and services, customers are satisfied with Verizon and are less likely to move to shift their alliance to the competition or reduce their demand for Verizon products because of a slight cost increase. The venture has therefore assisted Verizon in creating value for its products and services by allowing proper utilization of the resources available (Case study 2).

The law of demand suggests that lower prices encourage people to buy more while high prices have the opposite effect on demand for products. A price drop is therefore expected in situations where the demand is elastic and this often results to an increment in the total revenue. In the case of Verizon, a drop in demand, which is highly unlikely, will have little impact on the capital since the number of units sold through the venture will make up for the reduction in demand. The venture has also generated different platforms for the company to generate revenue and 10 percent increase in cost for products and services will not lead to them becoming elastic. The value created through the venture is so significant that it would take a 75 percent increase in price to negatively affect the value for Verizon products and services (Case study 2).

AT & T Joins Verizon in Unlimited Battle, Sprint Cuts Prices

Wireless competition is greatly intensifies as days pass and this has increased the prices of the unlimited plans in most of the technological firms. This has raise a concern on most of these wireless companies as they are receiving low profits following the bumping of prices to be spent on the unlimited plans (Krause 2017).

According to Krause, Verizon communications is one of the firms that is providing a strategy that will help in the reduction of prices that are expended on the unlimited plans by the wireless customers.  Though it was expected by some of the analysts that the Verizon communication firm will come and aid in cutting off the prices they however launched this plan in 2017. However, there is high competition over the unlimited plan between the AT & T, Sprint and T-Mobile firms from wireless firms. Verizon as well as the AT & T firms are more expensive than the other wireless firms (Krause 2017).

It is therefore important to note that this competition posed by the various firms with price variations. This is important in business as it will enhance quality provision of unlimited plans and competitive prices thus allowing for customers to enjoy quality services and unlimited plans from these firms.

The increase in the unlimited plans from the various wireless firms will enable subscribers to have a choice on the most appropriate plan to subscribe to. Technology advancement will be experienced all over the different businesses all over as more features on the unlimited plans such as the voice calls as well as texting features offered by Verizon’s unlimited plan.

Communications Challenges and Strategies

McDonald's business is one of the leading retailing business foodservice in the world. It recognizes the significance of having good and professional employees who are in place so as to provide their customers with exceptional customer service know-how. This organization therefore has had a history in their distinctive responsibility of transforming their employees into becoming leaders. Thus they have a strong perspective that as long as people are new in the business they have the chance to grow and become better leaders. The company thus offers their new employees with an opportunity to nurture their talents, developing their leadership skills and being better at what they do (Anderson & Adams 2016). The company thus is known for their big role in promoting their employees from within as these first employees are allowed to develop their basic skills and thus they are able to achieve the best in the future. The company thus advocates for a well training of the employees with different backgrounds and skills as they work together within an environment that cultivates respect as well as driving force to high engagement thus enhancing a constant success. However, the company has faced tremendous challenges in their line of work as well as with their employees. This paper therefore will present and discuss some of the communication issues within the company and strategies that the company can put in place so as to readdress this issue and thus be able to attain their maximized benefit globally.

The current situation at the McDonald’s company is the dietary behaviors of the large group of people as well as potential consumers. Communication interventions have therefore been put in place with an aim of changing the image of the business thus attracting more potential health oriented consumers. These communication interventions will be geared towards changing the behavior of the already existing consumers who are regularly taking the junk foods and thus they are persuaded to change their eating patterns through change of lifestyles and buying of balanced types of foods at the McDonald’s company which are healthy. The company is however faced with the challenge o achieving and maintaining of the large scale dietary change that is positive (Anderson & Adams 2016). This challenge is as a result of the complex as well as the difficult enterprise of the dietary change. Thus the company has to come up with nutrition messages that make the communication interesting and attractive thus making sense to the consumers enabling them to change their behaviors and attitudes in a motivating ad reasonable manner. Thus the company concerns itself with the interpretation that the targeted consumers will have on particular messages in the media and on the form of messages that are efficient with the types of the consumers targeted from the outlook of the communication psychology.

Language barrier is one of the major problems that most of the companies that operate globally face. As they employ new and first time employees it is hard to enhance team building and team work as communication is hindered.  However, in McDonald's business, they have advocated and implemented on the cohesive high performance leadership proficiency, mechanism as well as culture. Thus they encourage team members of their company through empowerment to mentor one another as they all talk openly as they share their ideas and skills using a common language (Anderson & Adams 2016). Publicly talking about strengths and weaknesses for new employees is quite a hard task. However, it helps one to be able to develop n some of those weakness and to improve on the strengths as a public feedback is enhanced. This allows for building of close relationship among the employees thus allowing them to be able to communicate effectively as they are needed to.

Misconduct is a behavior that is not advocated for in any organization as it results to poor performance of the business. McDonald’s company therefore ensures that they offer protection against their employees from retribution process. Reporting of any misconduct by another employee is not easy and thus most of the employees may decide to keep quiet and thus allowing their fellow employees continue behaving in a manner that is not appropriate or the business success. Thus to curb this through the team building and leadership cycles, the employees in the McDonald’s company enhances open communication among the employees and creates a sense of accountability among the leadership cycle members and in this case, they are able to report of any misconduct. This system has been advocated for by the company through their protection approach towards those employees who present reliable and concerning information in good faith about the employee in question thus allowing for a correction by the company. This ensures that all the employees within the company work towards the same goal as they are all focused in motivating each other and looking out for each other while in the company. In this case, their leadership skills are more advanced and the company is thus able to meet their goals (Anderson & Adams 2016).

It is thus important to note that the company uses communication strategies that are well organized so as to be able to overcome some of these communication challenges. The company therefore implements the use of the most appropriate and preferred channel of communication such as the use of social media as most of the people are using the internet in the current world that we are living in. implementation of an endorser who has a new face of the company helps in the building of a company’s image thus allowing the behaviors and attitudes of people to change. Offering of promotion for the McDonald’s company’s products attracts potential customers into the business and thus they are able to market the business to their fellow friends and family (Deng 2009). This is also used on the employees that are employed in the company. As they are rewarded and promoted better they tend to offer products that are f higher quality thus allowing for most of their customers to recommend others into the restaurant through the world of mouth and due to the good rating which is as well as good form of communication strategy. Thus the customer’s attitude on healthy foods and lifestyles and their behaviors towards the same are changed thus resulting to an increased demand of products. These strategies are all forms of positive reinforcements that are used by the McDonald’s company with rewards and more consumption behavior of healthy foods. Reviews on the communication performance are part of the communication strategy as they enhance an all time improvement of the company. Communication strategy and maximization on changing the behaviors as well as attitudes among the employees and the consumers is very important in making all the stakeholders satisfied and happy.

THE USE OF NEW MEDIA TOOLS IN COMMUNICATION

The use of new media has greatly changed communication as it demands has increased over the years. Internet accessibility has played a significant role as it has enhanced interactive communication of the user through feedback as well as creative participation. In this case, the online newspaper has been characterized by dialogue through the connection of content ad conversation (Duhé, 2007). This has enabled sharing of information throughout the world possible creating a platform for comments and discussion on a variety of issue. The use of new media as communication tools for the organization have resulted in a positive impact in the organization as the platforms for communication have been technologically advanced give a chance to the organization workforce to comment as well as be creative due to the exchange of ideas (Kitchen & Uzunoglu, 2014).

The perspective has been influenced by the fact that a lot has been achieved mostly yielding positive results for both the organization and the people. Its accessibility has encouraged many readers as they are able to keep up with the current trends (Kitchen & Uzunoglu, 2014). The media includes images, web links and videos that promote the readers to search for related articles in order to broaden their knowledge. Through the participation, there has been a transformation of a participant community of donors and editors who benefit the non-community readers.

Communication theory considers leadership to be a wide scope that is not limited to management as it facilitates the success of the organization. Leadership style influences the activities of an individual or a group in the workforce towards goal achievement. This can be achieved if the right information is based to the employees so that they can be aware of what is expected of them (Mortensen, 2008). Leadership style encourages participation of employees through planning, problem-solving as well as decision making. However, the type of communication between the leader and the employees is shaped by the leadership style. For example in the dictatorial type of leadership communication is channeled from the top management to the lowest level of the organization. Authoritative communication is best suited when there is little or less time for consultation (Mortensen, 2008). Consultative and participative leadership facilitates communication in both ways creating room for innovation and creativity. The communication in this leadership styles is best used in new media as it encourages ideas and feedback. Employee’s attitude control on how effective they communicate as it creates a conducive environment to exchange ideas.

Understanding what new media tools means through awareness facilitates communication. This is because there is knowledge passed of the new media making a large population know about its users, the experience of others and the likely benefits an individual may get. The awareness program aims at exchanging the methods and the experiences that are derived from the active use of new media, especially the young people who are in touch with the current technological trends (Global & In Information Resources Management Association, 2016). The awareness creates exposure, encourage engagement, results to influence and leads to a generation funnel. The impacts of the awareness get people to communicate more promoting intercultural communication due to the many numbers of users from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Training and the practical use of the new media tools has a significant effect on communication. This is because it changes how people use the tools. Training prioritizes the individual as they are made to know the most effective way of using the tools in order to reap maximum benefits. The training is considered to be an adaptive learning that facilitates understanding of the society (Bozarth, 2010). This helps the individual to communicate the relevant information that will be beneficial to others thus encouraging more communication between the users. It also ensures that the objective of the new media tools is meet as well as its effectiveness. This lays down a strategic plan for the user to have a goal and be consistent. This ensures that the organization achieves the goal of effective communication which will ensure that the right information I passed down to the reader (Bozarth, 2010). Training also facilitates collaborative communication between the readers that enables individual success. The training forms an expectation platform that strengthens the social networks resulting in better communication.

Diverse background and cultural influences affect effective communication when not well managed. Some communities are a reserve to technology and other has been slow in accepting and adopting it. However, with training and practical use of the new media tools cultural diverse can be considered to be a positive impact on communication (Gibson & Lando, 2016). This is because different users can be able to learn from others cultural practices of different users resulting to more knowledge. The connectivity ensures that there are great ideas exchange that. It has a significant influence on communication when users at the end are able to collaborate effectively. The cultural influence is that ideas may differ significantly to the other in which they can use the influence of others to be creative (Shoemaker & Reese, 2013). With the training and the benefits ripped from new media tools many cultures have adopted their use as it has helped them communicate with other cultures enabling them to know what the another side is. This encourages communication as they are willing to adopt the beneficial practices of the other communities.

Regulations have shaped the use of new media tools. This is because the stipulate how they should be used mostly in order to recognize positive impacts to the society. Without regulation, the tools can be used to take advantage of other unsuspecting users depriving them off right of engaging with other fairly. It can also be used to destroy the reputation that has been building up for a long time (Cooke, 2010). The regulation of the electronic communication ensures that there is the privacy of information because in a case of a breach there could be significant harm. The regulations respond to communication between individuals and also the organization to be self-regulatory (Duhé, 2007). The regulations ensure that people communicate with each other taking into consideration social and ethical respect from them. Both social and ethical obligations require individuals to be well behaved and to be responsible for what they say. The social and ethical rule makes individual communicate in a more effective manner. Social responsibility ensures better communication prevents individuals from engaging harmful acts by encouraging them to perform activities that are in relation to the social goals (Cooke, 2010).

Corporate social responsibility ensures that the organization distracts its self from harmful articles that may have a negative impact on the society. This ensures that the organization makes ethical decisions on what to publish and including content that can help the readers (Duhé, 2007). It is a platform that can be used by the organization to create awareness to the reader by creating a material sense and the welfare of the society. This is done by addressing the issues that are relevant to the society by identifying ways in which they can actively participate. This influences the direction of communication between them as the society and the organization becomes more responsible towards a common agenda.

Organizations have embarked on huge investments in the new media tools as a way of showing commitment. They have allocated huge funds that in order to obtain various tools used for communication which is technologically advanced (Cabañero-Verzosa & Garcia, 2009). These tools have facilitated communication in that the users can express their opinions as well as interact with others more frequently. The organizations have included web-based tools and services that have enhanced communication through information sharing and collaboration. The tools are user-friendly as they create a platform that can share video, audio, photos further enhancing their engagement.

Organizational threats have negatively affected communication through the new media tools. The great threat is security. Sensitive information may be licked out that may have a negative impact such as tarnishing the reputation of the organization (Shoemaker & Reese, 2013). The threats make communication slow as the users are slow to trust each other limiting them to share their ideas. Lies have found a place in the new media tools as people tend to live in a virtual world. This results to unrealistic feedbacks that in most cases are morally and ethically wrong.

The implementation of the new technology has changed the responsibility of the managers and they have to be more competent. In order to curb the organization, threats managers have first to get experience in order to guide the development of effective strategies. A dual role for managers is an implementation of the managers that they should be able to serve as developers and implementers has reduced the level of risk (Shoemaker & Reese, 2013). The implementation of the market perspective has helped organizations to receive the new technology in a more responsible ground. Framework for information and multiple internal markets have help managers plan carefully minimizing the threats.

When strategies concerning threats are implemented the organizations get numerous chances of growth and expansion. First, the users feel safe when using the web-based tools as they know that security has been addressed by the company (Shoemaker & Reese, 2013). This increase the number of users which in return increasing the demand for information as well. This creates a chance for the organization to go global such as expanding to other geographical regions. Due to this factor, the organization grows in size as it increases the number of employees as well as the mew media tools. The organization infrastructure becomes more developed with job description more clearly (Shoemaker & Reese, 2013). With the growth, the organization is able to increase its revenue and profitability strengthening the company financial position.

In conclusion, the use of new media tools will progressively increase with time as many organization and people prefer using the tools for communication, interaction and exchanging innovative ideas due to their convenience. According to Ryan Holmes, the sum of social media users grows at a rate of 25% each year with current users totaling to 2 billion. A research conducted by Holmes has shown that out of 10 companies in the U.S 9 of them have active social networks. This has increased exposure to the organization leading to a boost in sales. This is an indication that in the next five years there have been many predictions. This includes less noise, ease of use, more context, ease of access and ease of understanding the context. According to Jonathan MacDonald, there shall be automated technologies that will increase communication (Sterkenburg, 2012). According to David Lemereis, there shall be a drastic change by scientists who will develop Natural User Interface (Sterkenburg, 2012). Therefore it is true to say that in the next five years there shall be more powerful new media tools that users will use to enhance communication.

BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT

TWITTER

Introduction

Twitter, as a social network makes use of its global platform for the purpose of public self-expression as well as conversation in real time. Moreover, through developing new ways through which people can use to create, distribute and discover content, this site claims to have democratized the creation and distribution of this content hence allowing any voice to echo around the globe instantly and unfiltered.

Should Twitter start charging individual users for usage?

Yes, the management authority of Twitter should start charging individual users for using their site. The reason for suggesting so is because of various considerations which can be made about this social media. First, it should be noted that with globalization, vast majority of business organizations are using it and a lot o individuals are following them.  In so doing, such companies keeps on popularizing themselves to their customers hence increasing their returns while the site is gaining nothing (Wright & O.U.P, 2015). Therefore, there is the need of identifying ways of making such an experience more valuable as well as charging for commercial accounts.

This is not a surprise but it can be cited as one of the apparent move its management authority could make so as to start generating revenue. It has been noted that majority of the users who have become notorious had been expecting more from its startup as well as blaming it for the lack of noticeable business model after its existence. Such a move will in return assist in creating revenue-generating features which will aid in tapping into the way various brands use Twitter as a hybrid customer-service and marketing tool (Funk, 2011).

With technological advancements, charging individual users for the usage of Twitter platform would be a better means of improving its performance. Various online companies are extensively making better use of Twitter to better service their customers. In so doing, it is believed the best route for this is then to ensure that all these companies which desire to run Twitter within their company wall i.e. much as Google has with Google Apps, pay for the services they get. Yet, there is a genuine additional product. The marketing of some of them have already been half-done because of the general popularity of Twitter more especially all these companies have some kind of Twitter evangelist (Wright & O.U.P, 2015).  This is then goes for the real enterprise market in which money is spent on useful corporate apps and this is where Twitter comes in.

Nonetheless, for this app to exist on the long-run, it will be forced to serve as many people as possible. As stated above, celebrities and big brands have been gaining a lot of followers thus adding a lot of value to the Twitter concept. Conversely, still there exists variety of business model in case one has millions of people on Twitter.  Twitter keeps on offering premium accounts to Individuals and business organizations where they can be able to post special tweets for example lay out and so on (Funk, 2011). Similarly, there is the provision of pimp-accounts from Twitter which are very attractive to the youths. This keeps them alert and continuously socializing around the globe and thus for one to have special performance of this feature, he or she should be made to pay for it.  This is what will make this App to growing and that should be their business model.

Deciding to charge individual or business Twitter accounts I believe should not be something to debate upon because it is still the same platform for various online social networks. Contrary to that, to some extent, it is suggested that differentiating between business and personal use is somehow difficult as it is a very grey line.  This is to say that not only it will be interesting to see the main revenue model Twitter will run with, but it will also be an interesting exercise of deciding on the fine details which will dictate the manner in which individuals companies and personal accounts will be charged (Parmelee & Bichard, 2012).

In addition to that, some of the individual social media companies for instance Facebook, which consists of a much more conventional audience, continues to adopt some of the compelling features of Twitter. This in return have declined the value o Twitter through retaining audience as well as implementing the above said features on a platform that family or close circle of friends of the user/s are comfortable using. Despite the fact that there is the need of unifying the login systems for the two platforms, Twitter should do this on some payments and through aggregating more data- the same information that it turns around and sells.

Consequently, charging individual users of Twitter accounts/platforms means that the company is taking the right step. This is one of many business organization models which are used to monetize their services. Typically, what they need to foster this is to be able to charge individual business or individual accounts as well as verifying that this is the real business and given them more functionality for example the analytics of their mainstream (Parmelee & Bichard, 2012). In so doing, it means that it would be a great method of getting its foot in the door as far as making money is concerned.

Discuss the pros and cons of charging individual users

Pros

As stated above, charging individual users means that the Twitter Company can be in the position of creating revenue-generating features extensively. Conversely in the process of tapping its benefit into the manner in which the brand use of this application, it means that its users will be motivated about it.

Moreover, charging individual users means that its esteemed can be in the position of maintaining its loyalty with this media regardless of the current completion it is facing. The incorporation of the modern technology in improving its effectiveness means that the company will be in the position of competing favorably with its rivals in the communication industry (Agarwal et al, 2014).

Equally, charging individual users means that the revenue base of the company will increase to the extent of using it in meeting its daily operating expenses as well as maintaining its capital base of meeting its expenses.

On the other hand, since such an idea is still young to implement, still the company has nothing to share despite the recent surge in speculation. Therefore, regardless of the fact that it is noted above as being a step in the right direction, taking such a move quickly doesn’t mean that the management authority will be in the position of solving all of the Twitter problems

Nonetheless, for this app to exist on the long-run, it will be forced to serve as many people as possible. As stated above, celebrities and big brands have been gaining a lot of followers thus adding a lot of value to the Twitter concept. Charging them, therefore, could be a wrong step to take since as much as they have millions of followers they can start their own social media like Twitter after all. For instance Google Tweets and Disney Tweeters could end up attracting as much as people as Twitter have right now in a short period of time. This kind of competition will make it to lose its popularity with time (Agarwal et al, 2014).

Despite the perceived advantages of charging individual users, there are chances that the returns might be prone to various sentiments from investors as well as market play hence making the underlying factors to change. On the other hand, user growth and engagement majorly depends on the effective interoperation with the operating system, devices, networks, web browsers, or standards which Twitter doesn’t control (Biagi, 2013). Taking the above step means that there is the possibility of the operating and business result to harmed through the normal disruption of its services. This will also be as a result of not effectively adapting to the existing technology and social media infrastructure.

Recommendation

Despite the above considerations together with the advantages and disadvantages of charging individual users, it is crucial to recognize that whatever its management authority will come up with will typically remain free for use by celebrities, companies, individuals and so on.  Therefore, what the managers should think about is basically adding value in all places in which they see attraction and not immediately imposing charges on existing services or users (Biagi, 2013).

Likewise, in order to for the above objective to be realized, there should be some special functionality which will come with such an account for instance automatically showing tweets in individuals’ listing, in spite of whether he or she is following that twitter account.  Additionally, the management authority should not immediately or retroactively take the above step of charging individuals for using their services. What needs to be done is first charging users for the features that only power individuals are likely to want, for instance advanced verification, analytics and other.

Twitter should not retroactively embark on charging individuals for using its service. This somehow feels unnecessarily penalizing them even though they are gaining free value off tweeting (Shapiro & Jacobs, 2011). The company could have thought about that idea through monetization of the corporation earlier.  Instead, there is the need of building the oft-discussed tier system. This is a free service which incorporates the volume usage plan. This is will enhance profile options; user analytics as well as other clever things which will enable it enjoy the economies of scale.

Communication is usually a two-way complex process that may involve various iterations before achieving mutual understanding. There are basic principles communication principles that should be considered whether one is speaking formally or informally as discussed below

Knowing the audience and topic involved

The communication process should always be focused on suiting the understanding level of the intended recipient of information.  The details and facts of the information to be relayed should also be considered (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Anticipating objections and presenting a comprehensive picture

One should expect any objections that may arise out of misunderstanding. The communication should, therefore, bring benefits for all the parties involved and evidence such as statistics should be used to support statements (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Communicating a little at a given time while checking whether information is being understood

This will allow one to pause and ask question to check whether the listeners understand. The listener should then be given an opportunity to ask any questions (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Presenting the information in a number of ways

This involve using different techniques to engage various individuals like visuals or notes given that what works for one reader or listener may fail to work for another(Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Developing practical ways of obtaining feedback

Feedback is the surest way of evaluating the extent to which communication is effective. This involves ways that suits the circumstances and environment in which h the communication process is taking place. Observing, listening, investigating and assessing may some of the ways of obtaining feedback depending on role one plays as a communicator. Such roles involve an assessor, investigator, recipient or a participator.   Actively listening and observing are very important skills in good communication which enables one to avoid misunderstanding, misinterpretation and confusion (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Hence, various business communication strategies should be in place to assist in managing the relationship between various stakeholders.  The strategies should consider whether the communication is focused on the internal or external stakeholder. For the internal communication, there should be consistent, clear and constant communication that will enable developing employee engagement as a strategic goal of building and sustaining effective and internal business relationship. This will mean that internal communication will involve managers who can contribute to engagement of the employees throughout an organization (Carroll, 2015). It will enable the managers to obtain information on the satisfaction of the employees with their job positions and what need to be done to counter any case of dissatisfaction.  This internal communication can be communication between managers and internal stakeholders which will promote a commitment to the firm create a sense of belonging to the organization and awareness in a case of a changing business environment and understand the evolving aims.  Another strategy involves creating two-way communication strategy which is symmetrical which can go a long way in enhancing internal communication (Carroll, 2015). The symmetrical communication will be very important in communication aimed at external stakeholders.  It can serve as a public relation model when it attempts to balance the interests of an organization’s publics with that of its own.  The two way communication is an important strategy that will enable reception of feedback to the between members of the organization and the larger community. An important aspect in these communication strategies involves the selection of an appropriate communication tool. The choice of the right communication tool will be informed by the goal, message and the audience being targeted (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006).

Question 2

A positive workplace culture is one important given that it affects the decision making process and the attitude of the team members in an organization. Positive culture in the workplace built on effective communication and engagement among the managers and all the employees. A commitment to a strategic and effective communication among the team members, the supervisors and the manager is a core to a positive working environment since everyone is engaged and understands why and what achievement is expected of them and why it is necessary for the organization (Salas, 2013). Effective communication ensures that information reaches the intended recipients appropriately to prevent misunderstanding or misinterpretation (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006). In the oil spillage case lack of effective communication led to misinformation so that there was no teamwork in decision making especially on the issue of placing the plug within the aforementioned well.    An effective communication strategy would have allowed all the stakeholders in the drilling of the well to engage through consultation, risk assessment and finding solutions in the issue instead of trading blames. Through engagement, the roles of each party could have been spelt out effectively so that failure on the installed drilling system can be solved through consultations.

Effective communication is an essential part in creation of a positive culture since it brings about sober environment where employees feel comfortable in their opinions and the decisions made. Open communication invites a culture of participation and engagement and sharing of ideas and overall engagement. When a culture allows for employee engagement through teamwork, everyone in the organization benefits (Salas, 2013). If there was open communication among the Transocean , Bp and Halliburton employees would have expressed their perceptions on the risks involved in not placing the necessary plug.  All the parties would have benefited in case the oil spillage had been prevented from occurring through a teamwork engagement enabled by an open communication.

A culture in any organization can serve to integrate team members so that they understand ways of relating with to one another and the working environment. A positive culture offers the members a sense of identity and builds in them a commitment towards specific values and the manner of doing things (Salas, 2013).  Such a culture is built on an effective organizational communication process that forms a part of effective management in the workplace.  It involves instilling the ability to combine force with a diverse group of people with, understanding how to exchange information in an environment that is changing and complex. An effective communication process enables harnessing the members of an organization to their teamwork roles and be engaged to them. In engagement the employees can employ or express themselves cognitively, physically and even emotionally while they are performing their roles in a team (Salas, 2013). Communication can also involve the way a management presents or represent organizational culture such as attitudes, goals and values that portray the organization and team members. Organizations should expect favorable outcomes if its members have been exposed to the right communication in the firm given that communication perception is based on the idea that the reasoning of a person and their perception of the firm impacts on their behavior (Carroll, 2015).

By stating a deviant career the author means the careers that are departed from the normal or the normally accepted careers in both the sexual and social grounds.  This can be additionally be defined as the individual's movements sequences which are developed via a particular departure subculture. Across the deviant vocations, individuals are usually socialized into fresh occupational persons and they are therefore encouraged in terms of materials and psychology to participate in behaviors that are not encouraged socially (Higher& Hughes, 1991).  These kinds of careers are not recruited or provided with rewards, or programs and initiatives such as promotion.  As per the career that  is  adopted  legally  the  deviant occupations normally entails  the evolution of the individual's identity, commitment  as well as  their general  moral values as time goes on (Higher& Hughes, 1991).

The model is mainly concerned with the reasoning and the depiction of the important components of the study of obese persons as well as the linkages of the developed reasons (Higher& Hughes, 1991).  This model is characterized by a continuous features representation based on the developed ideas.  The model is mainly utilized in situations that are linked with fewer data thus utilizing the capability of categorizing the prediction of the general results of the study (Higher& Hughes, 1991).  This is termed in other words as qualitative reasoning which is done on matters of a certain particular significance.  The deviances that can best be applied include crime and elite deviance.  This involves the scandals that endanger the wellbeing of individuals.

The most important  thing that I learned is that  in the  view of  integrationists  deviance is described as  an issue that  is  subjective identification rather  than an objective  situation. I agree with the fact that deviance cannot be described with the general quality of the actions rather it is best analyzed from the general consequences of the applied actions (Higher& Hughes, 1991).

The Role of Dubbed Turkish TV-series in Arabic channels and its Effect on The culture values of Arab Student

Problem

Dubbed Turkish television series are currently reaching an increasing point of viewers in the United States. Most of the viewers of the television series are said to be from the Arabs nations as the Arabian persons have always appreciated foreign productions (Dinçer, Dinçer, Kutlay, & Kurumu, 2012).  As the dubbed Turkish television series are on the rise in the modern society the Arabian world and especially students represent the large population (Ranzato, 2015). This is something that is highly associated with the loss of morals and cultural values for these students (Noble, Osheim, & Strauss, 2008). The sight of individuals in the series  taking alcohol  and conducting some  adulterous associations is  now  becoming a  common  occurrence and this  has thus presented a fresh image  in regard to  relationships (Mellor, 2011).

The dubbed series results in ideas provocations for the Arabian students who are born in a culture that is very conservative (Ong, 2013).   With the fact that they are  now studying  in  the American society that is slowly taking them in they are thus eager to explore the issues that underlie in regard to love (Reynolds, 2013).  The dubbed Turkish series for the Arab students can be termed as a social freedom to them as well as a cultural alienation factor (Kidder, & Oppenheim, 2008). The success of Turkish series generates several issues which are inherent to the Arabian world (Abdelnour-Nocera, 2013).   They have acted as a mode of cultural promotion which raises some religious controversies but they effect cannot be controlled easily due to modernity and assimilation (Ozturk, 2014).

Objectives

The main objective of this paper is to establish how dubbed Turkish series impacts the cultural values of Girne University.  In addition, the paper will seek to establish the reasons as to why Girne University Arabian students are highly attracted to dubbed Turkish television series.  This will also seek to establish whether dubbed Turkish series promotes negative behaviors of Arabian students in the university.

Hypotheses

It is clear that dubbed Turkish television series are associated with negative impact on the Arabs students in Girne University in regard to cultural values mainly because they explore the issues that are rarely addressed in the Arabian society.  Assimilation is slowly taking place as well as modernity which therefore imply that the cultural values of the students are being swept away slowly.

Literature

Dubbing of television series  is the general procedure  in which  a drama is  translated into  a different language of  another  country  via   the eradication  of the primary voice of the  actors and thus replacing it using the  language of another  nation  through the procedure of recording (Choueiri, 2000).  Arabs are characterized by a strong and a conservative culture. Therefore for the Arabs students in  the American  society dubbed  television  Turkish series  are a mode of gaining more knowledge  and  details in regard to issues such as relationships (Pollack, 2011) .

The main reason as to why the dubbed Turkish series are highly being appreciated by the Arabs and especially students is because the Arabian culture feels much closer to the Turkish culture (Best, Hanhimaki, Maiolo, Schulze, 2008). In addition, the dubbed series are produced in a manner that they are felt to be more engaging and even more believable. The Arabians, therefore, consider the actors as one of their own as they are able to explore the dynamism of family in a better way (Shahaf, 2013).

The dubbed Turkish series are more accepted by the Arabian students in the university mainly because the handle issues which the Arabian culture and   televisions are afraid of handling Che, (Haroon, & Ghani, 2009). These issues mainly involve equality based on gender, the affairs of relationships and love, treason as well as detailed discussions of the kids that are born outside the existence of marriage (DCevik, 2015).  The issue of relationship is a deep deal for students as they are curious to gain a better understanding of the general issue in-depth.  This, therefore, makes it favorable for them to watch the dubbed series which addresses their needs without hindrance (Morley, 2002).

Methodology

A methodology in research can be termed as a general plan of investigation that normally entails   gaining answers to the questions of research. The current research will utilize a Radom method of sampling and a descriptive design which will make up a mixed methodology.  The purpose of the study will, therefore, be to establish the role and the general impacts of dubbed Turkish series on Girne university Arabs students. The setting of the research will be in Girne University.  The research will utilize a qualitative design and a sampling procedure in order to avoid the occurrence of biases.  The qualitative design will entail the use of questionnaires as well as interviews which will involve and closed completed queries.  The research will deliver the questions using a Likert scale to increase the efficiency.

Population Sample

The target population will be at least 50 Arabs students who will be selected randomly to avoid being biased and to increase reliability and efficiency of the study. Random sampling will work to ensure that every member of the target population has a chance of participating in the research.  The sample population that will be used in the study will involve 30 students.

Active Listening Comparative Effectiveness and Interactions

            Introduction

Active listening can be termed as a significant skill in communication because it facilitates a better understanding, sympathy as well as understanding during interactions (Weger, Bell, Minei & Robinson, 2014). It is well established through different studies that good listeners are able to process the provided information in an active form, develop responses that are pertinent and ask queries that are accurate and relevant to a conversation. Active listeners are therefore  engaged  in authoritative listening and talks which help in developing relationships that  are able to develop relationships, improve cooperation, provide  solutions for given issues as well as shaping intimacy (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, 2015). During social conversation individuals makes talks, listen, and develops discussions and opinions.  In this conversation, active communication is a necessity as it helps in determining the general outcome. Active listening provides individuals with a wider opportunity of understanding.  Active listening helps in developing solutions to different issues as the participant’s responses are based on their understanding of the other individual’s views.

Literature Review

According to Vickery, Keaton, & Bodie, (2015), listening is the most significant aspect of communication.  The significant of listening exceeds the importance of speaking in any communication. Effective communication requires an adequate understanding of the given information which requires active listening to analyses and develops a good response (Vickery, Keaton, & Bodie, 2015).  Active listening gives individuals the chance of understanding the message of the speaker which helps in better responses and opinions formation in regard to the information that is being passed. In the context of effective communication hearing and listening differs in a great way. Active listening involves the procedure by which an individual pays attention to the speech of the speaker with the objective of gaining an understanding. On the other hand, hearing is mainly grounded on responses without an understanding which may result in misinterpretation or conflict (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, 2015).  Active listening involves four skills subsets which are silence value, speech listening, body expression that is accurate and reframing the delivered information. In the context of silence value silence illustrates that the listener is highly interested in gaining an understanding thus the particular speaker to talk. The process of reframing the particular message that is being conveyed is the general of processing the things that are being said and generating distinct opinions, concerns as well as questions in regard to the conversation. The utility of affirmative body language by an active listener can assist the speaker in recognizing the attitude and the attention that the listeners are paying to his speech. Active listening can be referred as an active strategy that necessitates good attention period as it is associated with numerous benefits (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, (2015).

According to Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, (2015), notably the significance and the benefits of active listening are the aspects that make active listening are an important section of the effective mode of communication. Active listening helps in developing knowledge adequately as it helps in digesting individuals ideas. However, active listening is challenged by different barriers in the context of communication.  In the present living active listening is a rare scenario as it is opposed to different things.  Active listening barriers include prejudgment, lack of adequate knowledge, distractions and the inability of persons in mastering active listening arts.  The lack of knowledge on the particular topic that is being discussed results in prejudgments which may not be based on evidence (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, 2015).  This, therefore, results into the listeners rejecting the thoughts raised by the speaker by contradicting the thoughts with their baseless thoughts. In conversation, the listeners hold more capability of generating thoughts as compared to the speaker which results to contradictory thoughts. Most people are not able to avoid the occurrence of distractions such as the use of mobile phones as well as passive listening.

Based on Weger, Bell, Minei & Robinson, (2014), active listening is all about gaining evidence and justification of the conveyed message. Active communication helps in developing interactions between individuals as it helps in developing a higher personality.  In the context of families and friends active listening helps in developing better relationships.  In another field such as medicine and business active listening helps in developing better responses through effective understanding (Weger, Bell, Minei & Robinson, 2014).

Active listening helps provides the speakers with a better ground of justifying their thoughts as it shows that the message being conveyed is treated as important. This helps in the articulation of feelings for the speaker and the listeners (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, 2015).  An active listener pursues to understand that is being conveyed, evaluate the information thus developing a suitable interpretation. An active listener communicates with a reflection of the speaker's thoughts.  Active listening helps in developing a better communicating culture between individuals.  Interactions are built by effective communication which is only achieved by good listening in order to respond appropriately (Weger, Bell, Minei & Robinson, 2014). Interactions are built by gaining full knowledge of the speaker’s thoughts thus assisting in developing a better understanding of selves. Based on the particular study it was revealed that the participants who received active listening felt more satisfied as compared to those that received a passive acknowledgment (Vickery, Keaton, & Bodie, 2015).

Methodology

The research utilized a qualitative research methodology which involved the evaluation of information by three different peer-reviewed articles on active listening. This was an attempt at explaining human behavior in the context of communication. The research design of the research was seeking to establish the effectiveness of active listening in developing relationships. This kind of methodology was chosen because it is associated with accuracy and high reliability as it generates information quickly and in details.

Results

The research established from the review of literature that active listening plays part in communication satisfaction.  Active listening was established to be an influence of interactions development as it helps in generation of understanding between individuals.  Through active listening, better responses that are justified adequately are delivered. Learning was determined to be an essential part of communication as individuals are fully able to justify their ideas on the provided ground without prejudgment. It is thus clear that individual’s behavior and attitudes contribute greatly to active listening and communication effectiveness. Better relations can only be developed through active listening as this helps in developing communication solutions and well-developed responses.

Discussion

In an effective communication, the perception of the listener plays a significant role in determining the outcome of a conversation.  Active listening can be termed as a learned cognitive procedure that incorporates sensation and attention. Active listening helps in attaining accurate information thus gaining basis for argument.  Despite the fact that active listening is given less priority in communication it plays a significant role. Since communication involves the conveying of intangible information active listening is highly necessary. Listening is an individual responsibility and should, therefore, be developed on this ground. Active communication cannot be achieved without the incorporation of better knowledge of the subject as well as the groups of developing the thoughts (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, (2015).  Effective communication is essential in developing better communication.

Winchendon community service

Dear Mr. Leaky Luis

I am happy to write to you since as one of your citizens here in Winchendon. I want to raise a number of issues I have noted during my stay here in this state. I have been living here for almost one year and it has been fantastic to be in this community since I have enjoyed and learnt much from the natives of this state. Having said all that, I have walked down town, hiked and used bikes as my main methods of transport and it has been awesome. However, I have come up with some proposals on amendments I want having observed the town for that one year period. There are so many recreational facilities in the town and I have observed that the right and professional public health principles are not being followed by those recreational facilities. Having done nursing, I have enough knowledge and skills that will ensure the available recreational facilities meet the required standards of public health in accordance with the public health ethics. Therefore I am willing to give back to the society what I have learnt since public health is important especially in different work places and the recreational facilities which house so many people.

The North Central Pathway was a great investment and has been useful to the entire community. I feel that coming up with many recreational centers has been useful to the community. In those recreational centers a number of services are offered such as gyms and places where exercises can be carried out. All these are useful to individuals since the obesity rates in most people will be done away with and people in the town will remain healthy. For example the North Central Pathway  is a center that provides services that ensure that people keep fit and ensure they remain healthy without the lifestyle conditions that come up due to lack of exercises and keeping fit. This is one among the many centers that provide these services thus people should be informed on the importance of these recreational centers since people only think of how they can get entertained without focusing more on their health. Other examples of recreational areas include: Lake Dennison, Otter River State park, and the Clark Memorial YMCA. These parks and recreational buildings are useful and equally important in ensuring people get entertainment and keep fit thus ensuring they are not at a risk of suffering from avoidable illnesses and conditions such as obesity. This keeps the community together and moving forward towards the best living healthy lifestyles.

However, security has been the biggest problem in our recreational areas. People need to feel safe when they are getting entertained and keeping fit. Regardless of the many recreational centers in our town, most people do not visit them because of the problem of insecurity. The centers need to be safe and thus I advocate your office to ensure that the recreational centers are safe and people can feel comfortable when they spend their time in those centers. I have read many cases whereby motor vehicles have been stolen and other different disturbing security concerns which I would urge your office to take into consideration and ensure the recreational centers are safe. When the security issue is addressed most people will find the centers very effective as places they can go relax keep fit and entertain themselves.

I would your office to ensure that the community is made aware of the importance of recreational centers since I discovered that most people do not know the main importance of the centers. People can ride bikes and take nature walks and this will be helpful even ensuring that people lose weight and avoid complications that come with weight gains. The only issue to be addressed so that people can see the importance of the centers is security. I would your office to work closely with the police so that security measures can be installed and the centers can be safe. The centers need to be safe such that individuals can even take walks alone unlike currently where people cannot walk to the parks alone for fear of being assaulted. I am waiting for your response before the end of this year since the issue should be addressed urgently.

Yours sincerely,

Mike
