As a student of English 102 you have read and will read several texts by various authors. Select one of the texts we will/have read this semester, and write a research paper about the text. (THE YELLOW WALLPAPER BY CHARLOTTE PERKINS GILMAN) You must form a logical and cogent argument about the message of the text, and you must state this argument in a clearly worded thesis statement. You will need to discuss the author CHARLOTTE PERKINS GILMAN, social mores at the time the text was written (FEMALE OPPRESSION) , and any additional elements you feel necessary to qualify your thesis (SHE WAS OPRESSED HERSELF, FORCED NOT TO WORK BECAUSE OF HER HUSBAND). You should also discuss the format of the text (FICTION) and how the author used this genre to bring his or her text forward (EDUCATE ON SOCIAL INJUSTICE OF FEMALE OPPRESSION) The paper will be an argument and must contain scholarly research to support the thesis. The research must come from the Los Angeles Valley College Library Databases.The research must be documented in the paper in MLA format with parenthetical citations and a fully documented Works Cited page. Think about what is interesting to you and which piece you connected with. Additionally, you need to address a few of the aspects of the genre as discussed, and analyze the text using one of the critical theories we have discussed.
