DESCRIBING A PICTURE

As I went to the museum that was small in size I was required to give my identity card in order to access it. The artistic work in the museum was incredible. However, I did not like most of them and I settled for the street scene picture in Paris by Michael Delacroix. This painting made me laugh. The painting is colorful with different a number of people appearing in the painting suggesting the busyness of the street (Delacroix 1). At a glance, it is easy to spot out that ye painting had used soft colors. The squares used in the painting portray a calm city. The painting represents a metropolis city as there is a restaurant by the sidewalk. Children are seen to be to have a cool time as the walk holding their balloons. Despite the many activities being carried out, people are calmly going about their activities such as the woman pushing her wheelbarrow (Delacroix 1).

It is a clean city. A man is can be spotted cleaning the wall from the window and a man sweeping the street. The pet represents the friendliness of the street which can also be supported by the soft colors. It appears to be white in color further indicating the cleanliness (Delacroix 1). The town is lively as there has been a movement of people and many business shops are opened portraying it as a business hub. The closed windows are a sign that people are out and about performing other duties. The open windows show that there are people inside the building (Delacroix 1). The presence of the bulb shows lighting during the night further enhancing the nightlife of the street.

Introduction

On the de Young Museum in San Francisco, a piece of textile tradition is exhibited and which ascribes to the Minimalist works of art. In this exhibition, the design principles include the regular, symmetrical or gridded display of material arrangement so that there is a repetition of various modular elements and complete absence of ornamentation. The Buddhist altar cloth utilizes the Minimalism art and a repetition of simple forms is used in the weaving of the cloth. This piece of art seems to favor the cool over the dramatic style.

The inventive installation of this exhibition can be said to enhance viewer’s experience. The symmetrical pattern is repetitive and is grouped by the progression of only two colors o represent simplicity and universality of the design principles.  The exhibition seems to be aimed at satisfying minimalists and textile-geeks at the same time. Varying textile traditions from all over the world are featured here, and many visual elements and formal qualities are presented in this exhibition. The grid of weaving is presented as a device for pattern (de Young,1). Upon looking at the design, fabric will be noticed as the first thing. Hence, textile form an important part of the fashion world and this is proven by this exhibition. The exploration through the textile world emphasizes the universality of the minimalism design principles.    The repetition of the simple forms is an element in the exhibition and in such patterns; mathematical geometry is a vital component of the design(Textile Arts Council, 1).

The main theme of this exhibit is therefore to compare the weavings to the abstract art minimalism school, which is evidenced in the manner in which grids, simple forms and regular geometric forms are symmetrical. The designed used link round flowers that are white silk and continuous patterning wefts that serves to supplement the dull background (Textile Arts Council, 1). There is a chromatic harmony seen between these colors which allow for a visual continuity since there is no one dominant color. There is a display of an overarching design which indicates the innovative and simple approaches applied in the creation of the patterns in this piece. The decorations are kept at minimum with no actual ornaments further illustrating the simplicity of this design. This illustrates the principle of minimalist art whose basis pre-existing systems that create the idea of the work before its practical execution (Textile Arts Council, 1).

Conclusion

This artwork represents minimalism which opts for simplicity and unconventional fabrics and design. The use of repetitive patterns is also a major component of this design principle and mathematical geometry plays an important component. Decoration and ornamentation are kept at minimum to further portray the theme of the design.  This exhibition is useful to individuals with desire for minimalism design in artwork.

Dior Runway Show

Introduction

The replacement of Chiuri and Piccioli team with Maria Grazia Chiuri at the Dior Runway show raised a lot of bizarre questions especially based on the notion that the show is meant to cater for women and had  never be ran by a woman.  By taking on the job, she showed that Dior had the opportunities for the next generation regardless of their gender. Chiuri has for long fought for femininity in the French culture and has acquired a long experience while working for Valentino and she appears to present how modern femininity is changing (Friedman, 1). She, however, emphasized on the need for continuity especially through her respect for all men who preceded her starting with Dior himself. The new director is taking all the dior elements already on the runway and doing things her way. But she managed to acknowledge the history of this brand.

The inspiration of the runway under the new directorship seems to be inspired by “unfinished business at the Metropolitan Museum “(Friedman, 1). The change is indicated by the garments which evoke artistic work in both their workmanship and prints. In the present design, there is a tone down of classic camouflage which is then changed into an artistic pattern while   coats, overcoats and bomber jackets   are decorated by panthers.  Another theme of the collection is the military style which is observed in blousons and overcoats and the inspiration for these seems to be inspired by the universe (Mower, 1).  The designer also tends to favor Denim fabric and use it in the creation of a series of jumpsuits that are solid in color. This make them resemble denim jackets and jeans with five pockets combined in a single garment.  Many things which were purely introduced by Maria Grazia in the collection which really changed the face of Dior runway show.   Despites the changes she went ahead and acknowledged other designers and their tastes such as Marc Bohan who had the longest tenure and which was also the most fruitful but who has been overlooked many times in the shuffle (Blanks, 1).

The changes did not go unnoticed by the trolls who seem to have problems with how the show seems to have departed from the spirit of Dior. The director from Valentino has been taken to task due to her presumption for what is perceived as her sad failure to uphold the legacy of Dior. She, however, asserted validly that all her predecessors had their own personal view of the legacy but the problem arises with her take. The change had to be done within two weeks and the runway was being operated with similar time pressures to that of previous designers (Blanks, 1). While previously the show drew on the design styles of Dior, the new director opted for some designs that are closer to Dior especially the evening dresses inspired by tarot-card and tulle skirts adorned with four-leaf clovers and various astrological symbols.  The artwork has been linked to the new director’s work at Valentino, and gossamer gowns that were once breathtaking. She could not avoid falling back on the design styles she was familiar with explaining the reason for the show loosing the Dior sense to the adoption of Valentino spirit. The extent of this transformation is seen in the echoing of bare-boards staging by the Valentino’s Espace Ephemere’s presentations (Blanks, 1). The show has turned to creating fashions that resemble the present day woman.  Looking keenly at the collection, one cannot fail notice the bee motive appearing in the attire.

Conclusion

The Dior runway show has transformed in a big way from the Dior sense and adopted the Valentino fashion spirit. This has been informed by the feminine inspiration brought in by the new director Grazia Chiuri. With new design motifs, the designer has focused the show to serving the modern woman fashion needs. She has, however, emphasized the need to recognize the legacy of past designers.

Integration between Islamic art and Contemporary Art

Art has mainly influenced each and everything that actually happening in the world, this is because art is very significant, since through creativity it can be used to either pass a message or otherwise restore the culture (Muliyadi et al, 23). The Islamic for instance is among the oldest types of art and it has also influenced the emergence of the modern art which strongly depends on it. This is so because, the contemporary culture mainly takes after the Islamic art, since the Islamic art had dominated in different parts of the world and thus leading to the emergence of the contemporary culture. This paper is therefore going to look at the integration between the Islamic art and the contemporary art.

The Islamic art strongly influences the Islamic art and thus most of the contemporary culture is copied from the Islamic art. Most of the modern art has been the improvement of the Islamic art and thus making the modern art to look different from the Islamic art. During the 7th and the 8th centuries, the Islamic art had dominated in all over the Middle East, northern Africa and some parts of Europe which are also dominated by the Muslims (Muliyadi et al, 25). This therefore led to the domination of Islamic art in different parts of the world. The western art was therefore copied by from the Islamic art so that the westerners could have their own unique forms of art. This later led to the growth of the contemporary art which seems to be different from the Islamic art.

The research has not carefully looked into the contemporary culture, thus making the Islamic culture to be its mother culture. This is so because, the contemporary art is very different from the Islamic art in the sense that it has been able to use the technology to make it very unique and different (Muliyadi et al, 26). Even though the research claims that the contemporary art comes from the Islamic art, the contemporary art is by far very different from the Islamic art as it has been able to incorporate the technology and thus making it look even more pleasing.

This research is therefore going to help people to be able to understand the origin of the contemporary culture. Thus most people will be able to understand why some contemporary artworks seem to be the same as the Islamic art work. Moreover, this will also act as an eye opener by showing how the Islamic art, through the contemporary art has changed and it is now using the new technology in order to come up with new and unique forms of art (Muliyadi et al, 26). If the research could not have been conducted, then most people could not have been able to understand the influence of the Islamic art in the world.

The Islamic art has had little influence of the contemporary art simply because most of the contemporary art is majorly influenced by the nature. This therefore makes the contemporary art to be very different from the Islamic art which is majorly influenced by the Islamic religion and its dictates (Muliyadi et al, 27). On the other hand, the contemporary art has mainly utilized the use of the new technology in order to make its work to be more entertaining and very unique. Whereas the Islamic art has only dwelt on the things which influence the Islamic religion and thus looking very outdated. This therefore means that the contemporary art is very different from the Islamic art.

The Literature Review

Recently, the Islamic art has been integrated with contemporary art mainly at the Middle East. Middle East is the major sector in the universe which hosts the majority of the Islamic architecture; it is a place of origin for the traditional of Muslim population thus, the architecture can be illustrated as ancient structures of the Middle East. However, the Islamic design finds its maximum countenance in religious buildings such as the mosque as well as madrasah. The Middle East countries were the first where Islamic was expanded, thereby the countries were rich in traditional buildings plus other natural materials which had long been established. The integration between the two fine arts is genuine thereby; Museums like LACMA in the Middle East recently acquires contemporary art with a belief that the connection will lead to strength as well us eventual success (Ali, 2014 56).

In my research I came with a better understanding of the integration that, both arts incorporation is the best idea in generating creative links between the past, present as well as the future. Particularly in the Middle East the Islamic art work have expanded with the aim of including contemporary work especially from artisan whom began who developed their talent there (Ali, 2014  34).

Theoretical Framework

The research suggest that Islamic religion in the Middle East generated a generation with strong faith which easily understood the way of life plus had a proper set of attitudes which generated their motives toward their architecture. The major effects of the religious beliefs on the architecture are Cleary seen in the nature plus the various techniques applied between the buildings directed to the religion and the connotation of other buildings. The Islamic architecture decides to join with the contemporary art simply because it expended on having direct social and communal purpose which includes worship which leads to the decoration using geometric, calligraphic and plant motifs with preferences of uniform structure. This research majored on the mosque being the major Islamic architectural building where formal ritual prayers are performed, it hosts everyone thereby does not consider spiritual or secular behavior thus acts as the emblematic building for Islam. The entire building is generally architectural where it is distinguished by most apparent differences which are displayed in the building. Despite the mosque been regarded as a holy place for prayers is also functions as a school or storage simply because of it designs (Ramadan, 2007 46).

Summary Methodology analysis

To ensure that the research is convincing on the integration of both art on how essential it is especially on both the modern as well as contemporary art. The research had to get all the facts right in regard to the impact of the Middle East countries were the first where Islamic was expanded, thereby the countries were rich in traditional buildings plus other natural materials which had long been established. To begin with I had to get all the information published in regard to the history of Islamic art work and the preserved museums like LACMA. The research involved interviewing groups of people especially the artisans thereby; I was able to understand why the integration should be considered.

It is very imperative for the process that is used in accompanying the study to be operative; the method that is used is what regulates the eminence of the research that is contracted and the way that it will be used to act as the prearranged confirmation. With the use of many articles in the field besides particular primers that were accessible online it was very easy to get a lot of information most of which was related to this given research. Due to the improved developed of several museums in the Middle East it was very tranquil to filter the required plus the utmost significant information that would have assisted in getting all that was needed.

All the synopses were analyzed to guarantee that the information was suitable to use in the study thereby there were advantages that Muslim has made many contributions to the dominion for the arts whereby it has encouraged them to beatify the word of Allah and the entire universe through calligraphy and architectural features.  .

Art

Liberty Leading the People, is an artwork by Euge’ne Delacroix which was painted in order to pass the message of liberty. Eugene painted a very unique image of a woman holding a flag bearing the colours of the national flag of France. On her left hand, the lady a gun and on her right hand, she had a flag which had been raised up high. Behind her, there were people dressed in black hats, black coats and khaki pants. These people were following her and on their hands each one of them either had a sword or a gun. On the ground, bodies laid helplessly, as if they had been murdered during a war. The lady seemed to be a leader of a certain group which had finally won the battle and they were celebrating their victory.

Eugene’s work was symbolic, in the sense that each and everything that he painted had its own hidden meaning. The flag which was held up high by the lady had three colours which were, blue, white and red. This was the flag of the French revolution, and it therefore meant that the French revolution was in total control of the country. Moreover, when the lady passes over the dead bodies, it shows that the French revolution has conquered all its enemies and it is therefore its work to carry out whatever activity it is expected of it by the society. This consequently means that Eugene’s artwork was majorly dedicated to the society, in that it explained the way each and everything took place in the society. Moreover, Eugene’s artwork was very significant in making the society to be able to understand its origin and thus to live in peace.

ARTS IN EDUCATION

Summary

The art whether in practice or theory have seen a tremendous rise in providing well-versed curriculum for a number of years now. This would include music, drawing, painting, and theater which have arguably demonstrated amazing reaping from the essential education aspect. However, this might no longer be the same judging by the rates at which schools are cutting down art programs blaming the upsurge of budgets. Such attitudes do not look appealing especially to the dedicated art students and teachers. Missing the chances to grow in your chosen career is very traumatizing indeed.

Pros

In fact, research was done by AEP in 2002 expounded on how arts education is very beneficial in terms of exposure and more fundamentally aptness in reading, math and writing (Centre for Online Education, 2016). The first report of her kind also portrayed how detrimental for those school children having little or no access to art education- no progress in shared skills and stimulus. The art education sprouts cherished critical thinking while drawing or painting which could be realistic in comprehending and analyzing mythical materials. Research administered by numerous organizations particularly shows how our schools are showing the greatest form of disservice courtesy of the perspective of underscoring art education. Actually, 2005 report argued on how art has covered a milestone in helping students connect to the entire global world and you know what, this has high chances of enhancing community cohesion (Centre for Online Education, 2016).

Cons

However, some other scholars and researchers alike have found some recommendable feuds with the positivity of art education. In 2007, Winner and Hetland made furtive claims that art education does not correlate with the enriched academic performance (Centre for Online Education, 2016). The subject of being objective in terms of what it matters is swift and brutal and further their study report inclines towards an unidentified relationship. There is still a warry of how art has not shown much effort towards access to art education and this comes with mixed reaction especially to those students who have choose art to be their major.

Future Implications

The future matters a lot especially to the young generation, visual arts and music being the notable chief area are still below the average and expectation does not look good either. A survey dabbed National Report card smashes the early hopes for art students, for instance, the economic woes speak a lot about all this in relation to the school systems in the recent past.

The future of art students and teachers altogether is not in the bad state as one might tend to think, the survey gives a lot of insights on the positivity aspect. Literacy skills and art go hand in hand and no doubt the evidence are glowing no matter the miniature negative feeds. It is true, written communication emphasized in art education raises chances of quick learning and more fundamentally being precarious thinkers. The big concern, however, would be the slow growth of the art education, private institutions are costly whilst public elementary and secondary schools are not all that equipped. In addition, the critical gap of access to art is one of the drawbacks but this should not come as surprise since the other disciplines are not performing well either in the recent past and a solution needs to avail right away.

Artistic Development

Artistic development stages help students to become perfect in creating art.  In the stages, children learn visual characteristics and achieve developmental standards.  The knowledge in each stage impacts curriculum planning in that each state play role in artistic development.  Knowledge impacts curricular plan in that in every stage, a particular age group and skills are required. The curriculum is planned according to the five stages, years of age and the type of skills needed (Malchiodi, 2012). Each stage requires different skills and so the curriculum is planned with respect to age groups and skills. In curriculum planning, the first stage is known as the scribble stage where children aged 2-4 years are provided with skills on physical activities such as drawing dots and marks (Malchiodi, 2012). The second state in curriculum planning is the pre-schematic stage and children aged 3-7 years start understanding symbols and drawing shapes like circles and lines. The thirds stage which the schematic stage requires children aged 6-11 years and the skills provided in this stage specifically deals with drawing objects which communicates meaning. They have the baseline and schema of presenting facial features.  In fourth state which is the transitional stage, the curriculum is planned for children aged 9years and the skills are based on adult standards (Malchiodi, 2012). Children draw arts with different details and sex roles and pictures based on world-making.  In the last stage called the realism stage, children aged 12 years become critical thinkers and gains self-conscious in producing realistic art work.

ESE students cannot use the same artistic development stages and age group because; students have different personalities and responds to education in a different way. They cannot use the same  stages because  they  have different level of ability and they  must be of different age groups in order to create ‘family of learners’ share things and support each other (Malchiodi, 2012). Children like cooperating than competing and through cooperation they will be able to find own assistance and solve problems. Students are unique individuals who need education in different stages so that the teacher can help them according to the level of ability. Learning in the same stage will hinder the teacher in understand the students and providing them with the required needs (Malchiodi, 2012).

PHOTOGRAPH ANALYSIS

On first glance the eyes settles on the clear visual image of the crying child in despair and you can notice how the other crews are being concerned by the look of panic in their eyes. The backgrounds pose no notion of anything close to calm but they are indeed in unity working together (Davis, 7). The visual is natural and simplistic in convincing manner that crisis might have occurred and the picture perhaps represents a rescue team. Looking at the color and the environment at which the picture is located, it is clearly to say that people are fleeing. They are escaping conflicts zone and properly hoping to catch a glimpse of harmony in their next stop, the situation seemingly paints picture of a crisis which looks pretty bad hence opting to flee away. The picture also reveals that their home has been devastated and they have lost their properties. This is because they have not carried their clothes and their other materials; it is like something has happened all of a sudden and had had no time to get themselves prepared. I argue that the picture portrays vivid image of warfare and how refugees are struggling to save their lives. It does not look anything close to being personal as the picture was captured randomly and no comfort at whatsoever. The commotion depicted is very ambiguous and it cannot fail to expose the feelings and connection of what is happening (Davis, 37). The variety of colors show sobriety drawing the much needed tension further there is much contents of visual information.

Suddenly, the extension of the water going beyond human eye gives an inclination of a possibility of sea. The picture taken is much likened to convey to the audience about a problem which needs attention (Davis, 24). The child who is wailing on close monitoring is in front of the photo means he could be the main objective taking this visual image. The texture and mode is not relaxed considering the backgrounds events happening. And, coincidently grabbing the attention from the public and for sure without even thinking a lot something is amiss should the initial notion. The clear depiction of the crying child has effects focusing on viewers’ attention on him as the subject matter. The dimension of the image having diversity and the texture clearly comes alive has life is involved in this scene, the brighter and dark inclination in the visual captures much of normalcy as the depth of the light clearly implies. Notably, visual image is in color even though it is somehow vivid and you can tell that it was captured outdoor since there is not much perfection of the skin tone (Davis, 32). The creator of these visual shows a lot of professionalism in him by looking at how the picture is well articulated framed and composed hence sending a clear description of what needs to be seen. It carries along with emotional appeal when you pay close attention to the size of images given to the characters in photo, the child in life jacket is big in size giving an indication how significant the is to the targets audience. Again, the scale given to him by the author is large and more focused compared to the other characters that are far much distanced.

Pencil

A pencil is utilized in drawing as well as in writing and it generates durable markings, despite the fact that the writing can be removed easily with the utilization of an eraser. A pencil is resistant to water, several forms of chemicals, radiation of ultraviolet and gaining nature.  A pencil is developed using glue, wood, graphite and rubber compounds which is termed as a lead of the pencil (Orloff, 2012).  The compound of the graphite is mainly made from the composition of pure graphite which is not normally common.  In addition this compound may be made from a mixer of graphite with a polymer binder.  The core graphite is usually called the lead pencil as the prior existing graphite was utilized in marking different devices.  The eraser that is placed at the pencil top is made from rubber that is vulcanized which is connected with stone pumice. This is an eraser that is characterized mainly by a pink color.  On the other and the eraser may be developed from vinyl whose erase is characterized by distinct colors.  Rubber is referred as so because of its general capability to erase marks that are made by the pencil (Orloff, 2012).

A pencil is manufactured by cutting the slats of pencils using the well-designed saws. The saws are designed in a thin structure which helps in reducing the amount of waste that is produced.  The developed slats are then treated using stain and wood in order to attain a color that is uniform and improve the ability to sharpen them (Orloff, 2012).  In addition some slats are developed in smaller cuts in width which helps in eliminating the defects thus producing various usable pencil grades.  The grooved slat are glued together and held tightly by the machines for the used glue to dry. After the glue dries up  the  connected slats are  moved to the  shaper for trimming in  order to  ensure that the  developed shape is  square  and the pencils developed are of  appropriate length (Quirk, & Palmer-Schuyler, 2016). The developed structure is then machined in making a pencil shape such as round or hexagonal.  The pencils are then ready for more processing.  The pencils are then painted in a machine that receives around ten lacquers which mainly relies on the desired depth color and quality.  In accepting ferrule a recess is cut. This means that the pencils are wrapped using decorative foils which are characterized by fancy designs which holds the name of the brand which is done through stamping. An eraser is placed at the top of the pencil by a machine referred as tipping which is placed using a metal ring which surrounds the eraser at the top (Quirk, & Palmer-Schuyler, 2016).

A pencil may be manufacture through color blending materials like artificial graphite with binder clay and grinding water with the achieved blend (Greeff, & Ghoshal, 2004).  This is them followed by kneading the blend extruding all the materials that are wet so that it can be obtained into the adequate lead pencil form after dying has been conducted.  Baking is then conducted at a raised temperate of 1000 degrees and it is then immersed in oil.  This method becomes complicated because it involves the utility of technological advances and numerous stages. In addition it requires time extrusion as well as adequate water control.  In the applicable manufacturing is characterized by a color blending material with resin novolak and an extrusion of blend under over a hundred degrees temperature and pressure.

Renaissance And Baroque Art

Caravaggio

Caravaggio was an Italian painter born in Milan around 1571. He is considered one of the fathers of the modern painting. His father was called Fermo Merisi, who was an architect decorator and a household administrator. His mother was called Lucia Aratori and she came from one of the Propertified families in the region. In 1576, the family relocated to Caravaggio to escape the plague that devastated Milan. His father died in 1577 and the mother died in 1584 (chapter 17, 292). Caravaggio remained an orphan at 11 years of age and he was apprenticed in Milan. When he later went to Rome, his work became accepted due to the technique of tenebrism he used which involved the use of shadow for emphasizing lighter areas. However, his carrier did not last longer; he killed a man during brawl and left Rome. He later died on 18, July 1610.

Some of his fiery master pieces included “David with the Head of Goliath” and “the death of the virgin’. His paintings involved a realistic human observation, both emotional and physical state with a dramatic use of lighting. His work was a characteristic of Baroque painting and he placed a formative influence in that period of art (chapter 17, 292). Caravaggio is important as far the history of art is concerned. After the unveiling of his first public commission, many artists from across Europe visited him in Rome to see his work. His painting was seducing to many because of the pictorial and narrative power in the paintings, thus, he made many followers. I chose this particular artist because he is importantly known in the period of Baroque and his styles are still important up to date.

Art and Ideas

Artwork comprises of different forms from ancient methods to present methods, some of the common artwork forms are painting, drawings, curving, animation, architecture, artistic design, folk, photography, and video, among others. This art works keep on evolving as the world develops. This paper will address two types or artwork that is painting and drawings. Art is a measure of human creativity or the performance of imaginative technical skills. An idea is any thought which is said to be productive in mental activity.

Painting

A painting is applying the different form of colors, paints, pigment or any other medium and applies them to a plain surface in order to come up with an image by use of paints. For instance, Mona Lisa is one of the most recognized painting jobs in the world. Painting is the mode of an art because an artist needs to be creative before starting the painting job.

French: La Joconde. Mona Lisa

Object type: painting

Mona Lisa has been one of the most recognized among the best painting jobs in the world, which was done by an artist by the name Leonardo da Vinci. This artist painted a picture of a portrait woman between the year 1503 and 1506, later the picture was acquired by the king of France where the portrait is currently displayed in the museum (Freud, 1947). The source of La Joconde.Mona Lisa is Musee du Louvre, Atlas database.

The painting of a Mona Lisa picture is said to be an art because it brings the creativity and imaginative technical skill intending to create and beauty hence included in the production of work of an art. The painting is said to be one of the earliest portraits to express sitter of an imaginary world, the painter of this portrait was one of the painters to use aerial perspective. The picture of a woman is portrayed seated and she looks as to be on the dark pillar. On the back side, there is a vast landscape facing the mountains with ice, winding paths and a bridge to give the image of a human presence.

Elements

Elements of painting work are the common composition of blocks of a general art. Following are few elements identified in my example of painted picture of Mona Lisa

Color

The painter has used different colors in order to come up with the final image; he has used colors like brown, black, orange, maroon, and blue (Feldman, 1971).

Line

The painter has used a thin black line all around the picture to differentiate between the picture of a woman and the background (Feldman, 1971).

Shape

The picture of a woman is portrayed seated and she looks as to be on the dark pillar. On the back side, there is a vast landscape facing the mountains with ice, winding paths and a bridge to give the image of a human presence. The painter picture presents a three dimension image as the portrait is facing in front and the same time it is facing right-hand side, the background can also be viewed very well (Feldman, 1971).

Volume

The painter has used more than three-quarter of the page or the surface where the image has been painted on (Feldman, 1971).

Composition

The painter has used the angled composition when drawing the portrait in order to give the portrait a likeness of a human being (Feldman, 1971).

Drawing

Drawing is a form of art where a person uses the instrument like pen and ink, marker paper, pencils, Chalk, and makes visible marks on the surface in order to come up with a picture. This method is cheap and commonly used. Following is an example of a drawing (Rawson, 1969).

Rembrandt – A – Lion – Lying – Down – 207063

This is a drawing drawn by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and its’ located in Louvre, Paris. It was created between 1650 and 1652 (Underwood, 2003).

Elements

When the drawing the drawer has to incorporate the following element to make sure that drawings give fair presentation of art, the following are some of the element Rembrandt Harmenszoon have applied:

Line

The artist has used both thin and thick black lines as it is one of the primary elements of drawings. He has used them to separate one area of the picture on drawing surface from another one. A line is used to partition different areas. Light and dark lines have been used to make the drawing more attractive (Ruskin, 1857).

Shape

After the first line is drawn a certain shape is gotten, in our drawing the artist has already come up with a shape closely of that of a lion. A shape can be as simple as any two common lines surrounded on white paper (Ruskin, 1857).

The whole drawing.

This is the picture in mind of the artist before even making any mark. An artist has to consider the space and surface required by the whole picture. The head and the tail of the lion have to be considered before anything else so that not to cut the paper before even completing required surface (Ruskin, 1857).

Light and shadow

The picture of the lion looks so realistic as the drawer has incorporated the real world as the image reflects the shadow and the surface the lion is lying on. The picture of a lion shows some black marks on the face to show the eyes (Ruskin, 1857).

Proportion and perspective.

Proportion represents the size whereas the perspective is said to be an illusion. In our picture, by looking to it our lion has hair around the neck implying it’s a lion, not lioness and also have strong back legs and the long tail which are the characteristics of a lion. The artist has also used a specific color which is brown which is the common color of the lion and also he has used the brownish background which is the color of savanna land where lion stays (Ruskin, 1857).

Comparison between painting and drawing

Similarities

Both painting and drawings are the forms of art (Vaill, 1989). Both types of arts have been practiced for many decades or years. Both forms of arts are individual artwork. Both involve the use of a material to create marks on a given surface.

If someone needs to create an art by painting or drawing, he or she can start with either of the ones. Drawings need little equipment’s to start with hand and eye coordinating. If one need to make a realistic representation it can take a bit of time to accomplish. Painting incorporates more expense and materials but real expectations of nice work.

Differences

Drawings and painting are kind of arts with many differences for example as known by many drawing is a basic step of painting but on the contrary, painting is not a basis of drawings. It is better to know that drawing is made up of lines and shades. Drawings are made of different types of drawings, shade and object used. A person who does this job this job of painting is called an artist. In drawings, we can use turpentine oil, wherein painting crayons and pencil will be used. Drawings do not require any time to dry. Drawings by pencil can be rubbed very easily. In drawings, you cannot use brushes we need to incorporate scale or any other instrument for measures.

The painting has components like colors and designs. We have the painting was done on canvas, oil painting, watercolor and much more. Painting requires enough time to dry and most painting cannot be erased easily. When painting one requires a different kind of brushes and different bristles according to with paint the painter has. A person who does the job of painting is called a painter. In the market, the painting work has more value in the market as compared by that of drawing. The Painting materials are more expensive that pencils and charcoal used for drawing.

Painting uses paint and brushes or any other useful tool but the major ingredient is paint which is done on paper, cardboard or any other surface. Whereas drawing uses every kind of materials to form shades, lines to create images like pencils, charcoal, among others (Bambach, 1999).

In most cases drawing act as a basis of painting , most painters are drawers as the picture to be painted need to sketched first but all drawers are not painters as in painting requires expertise (Bambach, 1999).

Andrea Del Verrocchio and Leonardo Davinci

Leonardo as a boy was an artist who was avid. His talent ad been recognized by his own dad when he was still young as he was involved in studio work and he was well aware of the art market in Florence since he was a clergy (Da Vinci, 2016). Similarly, Andrea Del Verrocchio was a goldsmith, sculptor and a painter in Florence. This is similar to Leonardo who was a master of arts in Florence and was involved in significant artists work contribution. Leonardo was able to receive great skills as he was learning under a skilled teacher and artist who were known as Donatello. Leonardo acquired all sorts of arts training genres in the exemption of large wall frescoes and murals.

Leonardo’s drawings were mostly influenced by the fact that during that period Florence was under transformation and so many events were taking place. This, therefore, motivated and generated more ideas for his arts which were mainly based on nature. During the golden age, he spent most of the time in the society with frequent attendance of festivals that were held publicly by De Medici who was the ruler at the time (Bramly, 2014). AndreeDel’s main art was the Bartolommeo Colleoni statue which was raised in 1949 in Venice which huge significance. This, therefore, shows that both artist works was based on nature of the things that were surrounding them in Florence.  Both Andrea Del and Leonardo were additionally under the same master Donatello who was the greatest sculptor.

In addition, both Andrea Del and Leonardo were involved in few provision of artwork outside Florence. This, therefore, demonstrates their commitment and focus on flounce were nature had taken control of their art development. The earliest established drawing of Leonardo was derived from the day of a feast (Bramly, 2014). This is illustrated using a landscape which clearly demonstrates his thoughts and view and that particular period.  Leonardo is thought be have been roaming around the countryside whole the town was covered by the noise of the celebrations.  The picture stands out all criticism because of its calling attention to botanic and geologic details that it offers about the countryside. In correspondence, Andrea Del’s arts challenges criticism because of it the basis on reality.

Most of the early work of Leonardo is presented in a way that is collaborative in reference to nature (Da Vinci, 2016). This is because, during the period of renaissance, artwork was normally done by individual groups of artists which were receiving directions from the master.  Correspondingly Andrea Del’s early work was presented in a nature collaboration of the renaissance period Leonardo was initially known for his great contribution to one of the master’s arts which are the Verrocchio’s Christ baptism.  Almost all the involved critics are in agreement that Leonardo was involved in the painting of the angel on the left. The angel’s face, as well as the hair, holds graceful and light quality in comparison of all the other figures that are portrayed in the painting (Da Vinci, 2016). He was additionally responsible for the paintings background which is not well agreed with.

The reputation of Andrea Del Verrocchio stands high although his work has been altered by foreign designs.  His arts depicting nature cannot be ignored even in the modern society for its huge contribution. His work similarly to that of Leonardo was the representation of arrangements that were scenography into a representation that is dramatic in its nature composition (Da Vinci, 2016). Both artists were involved in religious contribution because their artwork is utilized as a symbol in most religion and especially by Christians. This is given that Andrea Del was involved in the painting of Christ’s baptism and Leonardo painted the angel on the left.  Their artworks are the most significant as they both represented the renaissance in their status (Da Vinci, 2016).         Both artists work is contrived with huge modeled and technical assurance with sensitivity and power as it creates a climax that is fitting to the art career of Andrea Del and Leonard Verrocchio. Leonardo’s work was so great that when he made the drawing of the angel his initial biographer swore not to be involved in paintings again as he felt the shame of Leonardo’s ability (Da Vinci, 2016). However, the more probable explanation for this was mainly to allow Leonardo to take over Verrocchio’s paintings by focusing on his individualized sculpture work (Da Vinci, 2016). This is supported by the fact that after a short time period Leonardo was able to work on his own work which included the annunciation work. This was similar to Andrea Del’s work whose contribution surprised most of the established artists.

Most of the critics are clear to maintain that Leonardo was fully responsible for the annunciation of vista’s background. Similarly to Leonardo Andrea Del was the master of significant Florence workshop (Da Vinci, 2016). He gained the nickname of the true eye because of his great paintings and a tribute was provided to him due to his achievements in artistic. In another similar way with Leonardo, Andrea Del’s is attributed to few paintings because most of the paintings hold no certainty of his contribution. However, both artists are well accepted as paintings masters and their paintings are regarded as masterpieces due to their great significant to the society.

Moreover, both Leonardo and Andrea Del’s paintings are well accepted in the modern society because they are utilized as religious and cultural symbols. For instance, the painting of the angel by Leonardo is used as a religious symbol which is mainly appreciated by the society today (Da Vinci, 2016). Their paints have thus been able to overcome modernity as they are based on things that are never changing in nature.  This clearly shows the general power that is held by the artwork from both artists.

I chose to compare both Andrea Del Verrocchio and Leonardo DaVinci artists’ work because they were both responsible for major arts and they both worked in Florence. In addition, the artists held great influence on younger individuals who were artists at their working period and their influence is termed as enormous. This, therefore, interests me because of their growing urge to help younger individuals to grow their art talents. Both artists’ were able to influence the weak generation of painters who were soon able to become stronger artists. For instance, Leonardo is the one who is responsible for vista background in the annunciation as well as the great painting of the angel. This is argued so because of the presence of sleeves that is on the angles paintings which are similar to those that are seen in all his notebooks. Both artists held the realistic nature in their paints as their drawings reflect the realism of the surrounding which is simply attributed to the both geniuses. This is in particular with the view of Leonardo’s interest in flying birds.  Despite the growing criticism on the artists’ work, their work is able to stand because of its nature. Their arts are characterized by the reality that is provided by nature which is a rare thing with most of the arts.  Last their work interests me because it is based on nature which makes it easy for individuals to accept and interpret the intended message correctly.

Controversies over public funding of the arts

In the whole history, artists have been producing art works that have been assessing the decency of the public. The public may respond to these art works with violent opponents and contempt. In the free public communities, artists produce the type of work that their talents, imaginations and ways can support.  The public talks of the question on whether artists have the similar freedom when their art work is funded in the society by the tax payer dollar.  The American high court have highlighted that the government is not needed to fund the artistic show of the public funds. The Court also knows that if it has to give out money for the programs in art, the government will not remove the funding and this will cause the removal of these works as it disagrees with the perspective that is shown in the art. This means that the government has the allowance in deciding which funds to give to the artists and their works, thus it must do this based on the first alteration but not in an unclear standpoint way (Great Britain, 2011).

The changes to the law was based on some controversial works as given an example of Mapplethorpe disturbance exhibit where the disturbance of its exhibit led to its removal at the Gallery of Art in Washington and to the arrest and sentence of its directors where they were prosecuted of pandering and the vulgarity after they were permitted to open the exhibit. Over the past few decades, wars over the restriction on the financing of taxpayers have faded thus giving ways to fight for those who have been offended by various art works and who have pursued to have their art work eradicated from the public display (Great Britain, 2011).
