My Profession and Future Career Plans in Master of Information

Master of Information (MI) is an interdisciplinary program that has units of studies in computer science, information management, information systems, ethics and project management. I am interested in this area of study as it greatly fulfills my career passion as information professional. The MI program is extensively wide as it gives comprehensive information of computer science, telecommunications, information technology and some combination of some (Rainer et al, 2013). I find this area interesting as I am always curious with my laptop as I try to develop various prototypes simple to those of established companies. It is an innovative program information as it is explored, by all means, depth, breadth, and richness. It is a valuable professional not only to me but also to other people as they have experienced the greatness that comes with the development of MI. The program has led to great information design, storage, organization, retrieval, right to use, protection, preservation, distribution policy and management (Rainer et al, 2013).

MI is fundamental important due to its numerous advantages. Mi enables information to penetrate all digital media in the digitally mediated society.  MI also enabled information professionals in understanding the technical, political and the epistemological effects of the information practices that are rapidly changing (Rainer et al, 2013). This career choice is very interesting as it helps in addressing the issue of critical thinking and leadership as its studies engage in significant concepts, practices, and theories. MI deals with the exploration of technology and information institutions resources that make me an essential professional (Rainer et al, 2013).

In order to become an expert in this, I have to train with a professional organization like Tencent or NetEase in China. These organizations will offer me with a great opportunity to sharpen my skill and practically exercise all the knowledge and information gained from the class. This will equip me to be a better professional in MI. I will also gain diverse experience as I will be dealing with real life situations rather than the theoretical information in class. This will be of great help as I will be able to solve problems promptly in any given situation as the organization are diverse and perform large scale operations (Rainer et al, 2013). With all the knowledge gained I will be more accredited information personnel who can use the experiences gathered to give me a competitive advantage over others.

I will use the experiences from the organization to start up my own small company that deals with data analysis. Data analysis is the process of examining, cleaning, changing and modeling data with a purpose of determining the useful information, giving out great suggestions and hold up decision making (Nelson, 2005). This is because it is one of my career desires to own my own company as it will help further grow my career and that of other people who are in the field of MI. My own data analysis company will positively transform lives through decision making to the people so that I may have a reputable name and create a strong brand for my company (Nelson, 2005). I will set up the company in China where I gained my experience as I understand the process better due to the fact that the policies are the same to those of the organization I gained my experience in. My vision is to see my company grow to that level of Tencent and beyond.

Admission letter for Bachelor of Paramedicine

I have always envied being a paramedic since I was a child. It is one of the most breathtaking jobs since one has to take good care of all patients who need immediate attention and care. This means that one has to work well under pressure and ensure the patients are well taken good care of. One given occasion I have handled a situation whereby by school mate suffered an illness which needed immediate attention and I watched as the paramedics handled the situation with the professionalism it deserves. They saved my school mate and this inspired me a bunch. Their response was so fast and this made me imagine myself being a paramedic.

I began getting interested in medicine at a very young age since my parents were both medical doctors. My dream has not at any point gone down since I work very hard in school in order to ensure I reach my dream. During my high school years I initiated a healthcare club whose main purpose was serving the sick and ensuring they got attention at the right time. Involving myself in this club made me develop and grow being a leader and I gained knowledge in the field of medicine since we were involved in giving back to the community services where we visited the sick in hospitals. I was able to watch paramedics perform their duties professionally and this inspired me and in admired being one of them. This motivated me work hard in school so that I can achieve my dreams of being a professional and well known paramedic who is able to save the lives of many people.

Paramedics have diverse roles and being a leader has made me know that I can cope with the stress and pressure paramedics go through. I am flexible and can easily adapt to any given environment and this makes me feel well suited to become a paramedic since I will handle those emergences with the professionalism they deserve. I have always wanted to help people and give back to the community and thus this field will ensure I have helped many people as possible. Paramedics are important people since they handle delicate situations for example in cases of accidents and other situations which need urgent and emergence care. I feel I am suited for this course since I will not only handle those involved in the accidents and emergencies but comfort the loved ones to the victims since they too need attention and comfort.

As a leader I learnt a number of lessons such as handling all people in a good and professional manner. I also learnt how to solve and settle disputes among different people. These leadership skills will be important in my career since I will work towards making people handle all situations in a calm manner. I will handle all emergences in the most professional manner possible and save many lives as possible since I have the necessary skills to ensure that I have helped so many people. I therefore strongly believe that I have what it takes to study the course, and be a NHS frontline where I will quickly help other people in an efficient and professional manner. This will ensure that I achieve what I have always wanted in life since I will help most people and comfort others as well and respond to all emergencies in the quickest manner possible.

Statement of Purpose

            Personally I have experienced great moment while teaching children. I have played different roles while teaching children.    I interned at the municipal; authority kindergarten as an English teacher assistant where I was teaching children Basic English, creative drawing,   nursery English rhymes and playing games.  In addition I was full responsible for the children’s conduct each day.   I later joined YIZHIYUAN an English training school as and a primary English tutor.  I was fully involved in organizing examinations, selecting and writing papers, marking as well as registering the grades.  I also organized extracurricular activities for the students and participate in the activities with them.   Personal students counseling and home visits were a necessity in students care provision.  This year I joined Xing Xing art studio as a Mandarin teacher where I taught students the basics of reading, writing and speaking the Chinese language.  This was additionally incorporated with activities in order to motivate students.

            The aspects of my teaching experience that I found to be more meaningful is the ability to impact children to learn new things.  This was especially in the kindergarten and chine language teaching where I offered basic teaching.  Changing the experiences and developing the students’ knowledge is a meaningful thing.  This impacted both my individual and my expertise goals. Personally I want to ensure that I make a difference in every student’s life.  Professionally from the experience I want to ensure that the learning process is made interesting for every student. In addition I want to teach more subjects in the future to help the students’ knowledge to grow further.  In achieving social justice in the learning institution diversity and multiculturalism should be incorporated to increase efficiency as well as skills.  I have a great desire to join SCU’s MATTC program which will help in developing my teaching skills and knowledge.  This will impact my aim of transforming the learning programs for the students through the utilization of diverse teaching skills. This helps in ensuring that efficiency is achieved in both learning and teaching (Cole, 2008).

Part 1

Power: Getting Started

Economist should know that lack of off shore drilling and failure to import foreign oil would impact lives in a negative way. They should foresee the status of the economy and understand that lack of import will make the country to become poor since the economic theory asserts that for a country to become rich there should be both imports and exports of goods (United States, 2011). Economics should foresee the impact on country’s trade deficit. Failure to import oil will cause import and export imbalance. In addition, there is a high global oil production and a country must have sustainable alternatives. The country will not be able to meet the customer demand and it will not maintain its competitive edge in the oil market. Economies should consider the impact of no offshore drilling to county developmental and in specific the area of job creation (United States, 2011). There will no economic activity going on in the country and there will be no development due to lack of mineral resources and discoveries. Citizens will live a poor life due to lack of country development in terms of infrastructure development and environmental monitoring.   

Part 2: Digging Deeper

When chaos arises, economy collapses, problems arise in price control and there is less supply of essential goods. There is no food in stores and there is no cash to purchase the available food.  Consumers lack essential goods due to shortages and high prices (Baker & Cormier, 2014).  There is no supply chain and transportation of essential commodities. The little food which is the previous stock is sold at a high price and middle class consumers are unable to afford. There is also a gas shortage and the available gas is sold at high prices and people create huge lines so that they can afford oil. During this disaster period, there is a higher demand of essential goods.  Business owners find the opportunity to create high profits than normal (Baker & Cormier, 2014). The high demand results to an increase of prices to an extent that consumer of low class cannot afford. The supply is low but the price of goods is high and the act is considered to be immoral and it becomes a problematic to the life of consumers.

Both looting and price gouging happens during the chaos periods but there is different based on how the act is done. Price gouging is an ethical act of increasing the prices of goods and services due to chaos in the economy. They do this for the purpose of gaining higher profit as there is no other alternative for consumers (Baker & Cormier, 2014). On the hand, looting is the illegal act of stealing goods during the period of chaos. Looting  in specific is related with  taking goods of value such as luxury and precious metals by force  and police are able to provide control over the theft due to lack of communication infrastructure (Baker & Cormier, 2014).

            Personal Statement

            Risks exist everywhere, but what we can do is to predict the probability of the occurrence and minimize the loss. As a current math Ph.D. student with a dual degree of master of Business Analytics at the University of Denver, I hold a strong math and statistics background. I also master several statistical software and methods, such as econometrics, python, R, Mathematica, Excel, Stata, Minitab, Bloomberg, Wind, and Matlab.

            In the class of Markov Chain, I learned several stochastic models, such as continuous times Markov chains, Brownian motions, and entropy. By applying these mathematical models, I analyzed some interesting practical problems, for example, birth and death process and Queueing question, which makes me interested in analyzing risks of events by using mathematical and statistical approaches. Since actuarial science is a discipline to access risks by applying mathematical and statistical approaches, I want to become a Ph.D. student to research the field of actuarial science.  With my hard work, I spend two years and a half to attain my undergraduate degree in math with a finance concentration and minor in Economics. During breaks, I was usually involved in some research. I have already published six papers in different fields including economics, politics, and real estate. Thus, I have the ability for making research. In addition, at the University of Denver, I am a math tutor, and I can explain math problems clearly to the undergraduate students. Thus, I have teaching experiences for becoming a teaching assistance.

            The University of Connecticut is a research school, and I am interested in working with Dr. Emiliano A. Valdez to research the field of insurance by applying the copula models and other statistical approaches. In addition, I am looking forward to taking the course, Math 5637, which talks about risk theory. The course is helpful for my future research in the insurance field.

            During my internship in International Finance institution in Bank of China, I worked as a research assistant with several doctors. In my internship of research assistance, I assisted researchers analyzing financial and economic events by applying theories of economics and finance and models of mathematics and statistics. I learned using academic knowledge for research practical problems. From my experience, I found that I enjoyed doing researches. Beside my academic background in math, statistics, economics and finance, my research skills and professional experiences make me qualified for the Ph.D. program in actuarial science at the University of Connecticut.

            My professional objective is to do research and be a professor in the future. In the research academic atmosphere of the University of Connecticut, I think I can promote my research in the area of insurance. In addition, as a teaching assistant the next of few years at the University of Connecticut, I would like to share my knowledge and research skills to other students at the University of Connecticut.
