  • In the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom applies to policies and legislation of federal government and guarantees freedoms and rights similar to the rights found within the charter. In this case, the laws include legal rights, equality rights, freedom of association and freedom of speech. Therefore the communication policy and law protect the freedom of each person regardless of their ethnicity. For example, the intelligence-led policing help improve intelligence and information sharing. For example, LEO (Law Enforcement Online) and CALEA (Communication Assistant for Law Enforcement Act) in the United States help control the communication department thus preventing crimes like eavesdropping (Edwards, 2012).

  • The major hardships which threaten the division of Canadian mass media include the outcome relates to American cultural and economic imperialism. In this case, Canada still faces difficulties in identifying itself to the media.

  • European journalists entail broader libel definition than the journalists in the United States and Canada. The united states journalists feel that the democratic press has no right to report the results of exit polls while the voting has not ended whereas in western countries like Europe the decision to vote or not depends with them. Moreover, Canadian journalist use social and their tools embedded on their knowledge and professional practice whereas European journalists have positive views about social media impacts. Moreover, the American journalists incorporate more detailed and less speculative information in the media for example the New York Times as compared to the European and Canadian journalists.
