In order to gain a deeper appreciation for what motivates human behavior, please familiarize yourself with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow theorized that human motivation could be depicted in a Hierarchy of Needs positing that because people have many needs, they need to prioritize and satisfy the most important, physiological and safety & security needs, before they are driven to satisfy more higher-level needs such as the need for love & belonging, recognition, self-esteem, and self-actualization.
Some people have said that there are many other needs not represented on his hierarchy, some of which are beauty, spirituality, creativity, or even technology. Others have said the order is not correct. Esteem maybe needing to come before belonging needs, for example. Please discuss your thoughts & reactions to Maslow's Theory. What might you add or change to better suit your life or ideas?
