Final project segment of description of leader I propose

Stuart Koman, PhD, founded the Walden Center for Education and Research with an aim of assisting community members to recover from various psychiatric disorders specifically eating disorders and their effects. I perceive him to be the best leader to share the fundamental leadership qualities. Stuart Koman has more than 30 years experience as a manager in health care. He has worked in various health care organizations under whose leadership they became very successful. This leader has attributed the success of such companies to attention he paid to the mission of providing coordinated and compassionate services to underserved families and general populations. The organization has become a leader in the provision of care services and uplifted the spirits of those suffering from these disorders. Since entering into his career in 1985 as a senior clinician, he has been a leader in several companies some of which he was part of the founders. For instance, he started Koman Associates whose main focus is leadership issues in public organizations, business and healthcare. He represents a consummate example of hard work, courage and the ability to achieve what he desires to accomplish.  He portrays a person with extraordinary leadership skills including vision, building a successful organization and moving on.  His leadership represents the ability to inspire other people, serve the community and communicating their desires for better health care services. Being a transformational leader calls for one to be different in their thinking and getting other people to think in a similar manner. This leader led others in recognizing the importance of family in the society and hence the need for treatment-program that is designed to solve food related psychiatric disorders.   Koman comes out as someone who can communicate his vision and convince the others about the desired change in their respective roles. Transformational leadership requires having influence on others, serving society needs and earning respect of others in the organization. When one is charismatic in their leadership, followers will be quite receptive to changes after seeing the need for it and the opportunities present (Northouse, 2015).

An Understanding of how Koman progressed from just a clinician to become an influential leader in community focused programs will expose what makes a great leader and the process of becoming one.  This includes surrounding oneself with the right people, which Koman did through getting colleagues with similar vision, and influencing them to share with his mission. Where there lacked leadership in tackling eating disorder  , he saw an opportunity  fill the vacuum message and inspiring others to take responsibility for  problems in their community.  Inspiring communication has a way of making people to turn from being self-centered to risk takers and embrace change (Northouse, 2015). These leadership qualities have struck a desire to know how put away lethargy, commit to a course and inspire people to achieve a commonly shared vision. Leadership also involves imparting confidence in others especially those living in a world of shame and hopelessness. This requires a change and moving away from comfort zone and like Koman, facing head on the problems in the society which have been ignored by those entrusted with providing solutions.
