The Benefits of a Raw Food Diet

  • The Benefits of a Raw Food Diet
  • Introduction
  • There have been various opinions on the increasing trend of nutritional deficiencies. Intensive research has been on the type of food one takes whether raw, cooked, fried or boiled. This article extensively discusses the benefits of raw food on one’s diet with main view on reducing the incidences of nutritional disorders. The act of taking raw food products is known as rawism and it involves feeding on natural food that is uncooked and unprocessed. An individual May be practicing rawism when large percentage of his or her diet constitute raw foods. Foods that can be taken in their raw and unprocessed form include vegetables, nuts, and eggs (Graff,
  • Benefits of including raw food product in ones diet
  • Some people take raw foods for the conservation of the nutritional value of the food “Douglas graham”. A food subjected to higher temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius always tend to lose some of their important nutritional values and therefore lose their value on human health. The main nutrients that are affected by high temperature are mainly proteins (Walker 29). This is because raw foods always contain natural enzymes, which help in processing proteins in the body. Enzyme’s action is often affected by temperatures such that at high temperature they are denatured hence become inactive of their roles (Graph, 13). Denaturing of enzymes can leave behind toxins that further affect the body of man. Among the group of foods that are often affected by high temperatures are those foods containing enzyme-catalyzed reactions for instance vegetables, meat and nuts. To avoid these, some people have resolved for raw forms of the foods to avoid losing the nutrient value of the foods. This people are always known as raw vegans and the act called raw veganism.
  •            Raw foods also benefits one to be pure from the genetically modified organism. Being that raw foods mainly involves taking natural and unprocessed food it distance one from the genetically modified organism which are always associated with heavily processed foods. The genetically modified organism (GMO) in the processed product always overloads ones immune system with toxic chemicals and poisonous DNA that the body cannot digest. The raw foods in contrast with the GMO foods always make one to feel satisfied with more energy and help to overcome food addictions; it also increases one immune system (Graph, 15).
  • Raw foods prevent one from suffering the effects of changing Ph. Changes of the Ph may cause protein infection. Hot foods are always associated with increasing temperature (Mitton 17). The increased temperature reduces the Ph of the body causing the body to be more acidic. This causes the distortion of proteins, that is, change in shape. Increased acidity causes extreme distortion in proteins. This causes Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in people that are always fatal (Graph, 16). Therefore, man should ensure that he incorporates raw food in his diet to avoid the adverse change in the alkalinity of the body (Graph, 16).
  •             One of the benefits of raw materials is that they contain Phytonutrients. These types of compounds use antioxidants that give both the fruits and vegetable color. The benefits of these compounds in the human body are that they help in preventing chronic diseases. According to research, one of the diseases that the compound helps in preventing is the cancer. They help in deactivating all the cancer enzymes found in the human body (Walker 27). Raw food diet has high level of body friendly chemicals known as antioxidants. The chemicals assist in increasing most of the compounds that assist in preventing diseases in the human body.
  •             The other benefit of raw food is that they provide energy in the body. An individual is capable of having more energy and feeling younger after feeding on raw food. This is because most of the raw food contains compounds and minerals essential for helping the body. The food also contains simple sugar and nutrients that the body needs in especially in an easily digestible form. Focusing on this issue, the body is able to keep most of the energy because it only uses less to digest the food. While using raw food, the body is able to do the process of digestion and elimination in a quick and easier way (Mitton 18).
  •             Another benefit of raw food is that it helps in the process of detoxification in the body. This is because most of the raw food contains a lot of fiber. The fiber helps in making muscles in the human body to relax and focus on eliminating waste. The body saves the time of digesting unhealthy food from fast shops and supermarkets (Laurel & Wilkinson 54). In most of the cases, raw food helps in making people to lose weight. The food seems to be the healthiest to the human body in the fact they do not contain a bulky of materials like fat that prohibits faster digestion. Therefore, most of the people who feed on raw materials are able to lose weight within a short period.
  •             Most of the nutritionist believes that raw food contains more nutrients than the cooked food. This is because research indicates that most of the nutrients die when cooked beyond the energy of 118F0. The Kirlian photography further demonstrates that there is more energy in living things compared to the dead food. Most of the enzymes in the human body are heat sensitive. They usually die when cooked within the range of high temperature used to cook food (Walker 28). Eating the foods without the useful enzymes is not recommendable for a healthy feeding. While eating the raw food, an individual reduces the chances of making the body produce its own digestive enzymes. Therefore, the body is able to save the energy for other important work. The energy may be used later in other activities such as healing and fighting of various diseases in the body.
  •             There are other healthy benefits of eating raw food that include providing a strong healthy to an individual. Research depicts that most of the people who feed on raw food have low chances of getting contact with various common diseases like the colds. Most of the people who eat raw food also manage their body health in such a way that they are not obese. This is because cooked food most of the time mixes with chemicals that promote obesity. Most of these chemicals are contained in fats and oils used to cook the food. Most of the researchers associate raw food diet with the benefit of keeping a person young always. There is an-aging benefit in feeding on raw food. This is because most of the raw food is associated with the anti-oxidants compounds that most of the time prevents one from becoming sick. The compound also helps in reduce the signs of aging due to the presence of micronutrients that they embrace.
  •             The other benefit associated with raw food is that they help in making one feel more relaxed. When people feed on cooked food, they tend to require more digestion while in the body. The body needs to produce more enzymes in order to digest the bulky cooked food. This makes the food stay for a long time in the stomach hence causing discomfort to a person. This makes an individual to feel a bit sleepier in order to recover the time of digestion. While one feeds on raw food, the benefit is that they contain enzyme and hence the body do not require more enzymes in order to digest the food. Many of the people who feed on raw food diet report on feeling more relaxed. They also report that they need less sleeping time.
  • Conclusion
  • Raw food has proved to be the main resolution for the scientist’s search on reducing the nutritional disorders. Man therefore should be cautious on the type of food he takes in. They should attempt in ensuring that every diet they take should at least consist of raw foods to reduce the effects of eating unprocessed foods. The parents should also incorporate the act of taking raw foods in their children’s eating habits to ensure that everybody is safe from the nutritional disorders caused by processed foods.
