Evaluation of the significance of Elliot used Blue/ brown eyes experiment in enlighten on brotherhood and moral reasoning for overcoming stereotype and accommodating different people

In the short video, Elliot discussed how absurd it is to discriminate people based on their skin color. She can barely believe discrimination still exists and society still struggles with prejudice (Elliot np). More so, her video revealed that people learnt discrimination and did not acquire it from birth.

Nevertheless, science unveiled that humans’ bodily variances fail to fit into groups. In fact, human variances are common across all the races due to genes and evaluation of DNA hence proving humanity is race (Elliot np). More so, race is superior than the other hence humans should treat each other with respect and not contempt. Judging individuals based on their color is absurd and similar to judging people’s eye color.

The video has educative information, which can change people’s attitudes and perceptions on race, personality, sexual orientation, spirituality, and even origin. In fact, Elliot claims that it is unfair to and ignorant to discriminate against other people based on any physical features (Elliot np). Therefore, the video is transformational and contains evidence to support its claims that indeed humanity is one race.

Initially Elliot designed the experiment to demonstrate discrimination, cruelty, racism and wickedness therefore when people watch the video one can learn how to unethical discrimination is when practiced within the confines of the community (Elliot np). In short, a small physical difference must not trigger prejudice within the community.

Discussion of ‘a class divided’

Before a class divided, I used to think that people differ from each other due to physical attributes such as color, height, age, and even character. However, after watching the class divided one thing remained clear, discrimination hurts people and deprives them of certain privileges (Elliot np). Moreover, discrimination promotes superiority and dominance of one person over another, which is totally wrong and uncalled for.

But now in can certainly say that humanity is one race despite the minor variances people exhibit among themselves (Elliot np). This change of mind comes about a reformed mind and information from the video. I hoped I changed for the betterment of humanity.

Discrimination

Yes, I have ever experienced discrimination in one form or another. Just like any other person, discrimination is part and parcel of life and one cannot go through life without experiencing any form of discrimination no matter how perfect one may be. My discrimination occurred both at school and at the residential community where I stay.

 The ease of learning prejudice

All I can say is that the children were unaware of the outcome of the experiment. Later after learning the consequences of their actions, the children regretted their actions and promised to be better people within the community(Elliot np). To emphasize further, children learn prejudice and stereotypical gestures and are not born with those qualities. In terms of application, the experiment proved the impact parents played in influenced the choices of their children.

Relating attitude and traits of the children to minority groups within the community

The superior children did not have mercy on the ‘less’ kids and they played their roles effectively meaning, they enjoyed the privilege that came with being superior while the rest of the ‘less’ privileged children (Elliot np). This experiment mirrors the actual community where the privileged do not relate to poor.

 Selecting a marginalized community

Members of other races often discriminate against are black people and once can compare the experiment with blacks. The American government segregated blacks or colored from interacting with the rest of the white community.
