  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a condition generally found in many people and is usually characteristic of people who look at themselves in a pessimistic manner. The condition in context is about a young man in his middle adulthood referred to as Chris. Chris is a person who had a near death experience after almost committing suicide. Body Dysmorphic Disorder features in many people who lack confidence in themselves and the activities that they carry out.

  • In the case of Chris, he had very many issues concerning his physical appearance. He stated that he had a very long nose and that it made him feel unwanted in the society. It was due to this that he decided to take his own life. This was characteristic of a person who suffers from Body Dysmorphic Disorder. People suffering from the condition also fear the perception that other people have about them. As Paul was, he also got to a point of fearing going out because he thought that everybody would lay their eyes on him and start judging.
  • Very many characteristics and symptoms can determine if a person is suffering from the condition. Some of the symptoms found to be evident in Chris as per the study and review of his condition. It denotes the actual diagnosis as reported by the clinician over the general level of functioning that an individual has achieved.
  •             Doctors can report the final functioning of Axis V by use of Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) scale.             According to the above case, it is true to say that while using the two methods of coding, a medical profession is able to depict the Body dismorphic disorder of the client. The case study shows that the man in question suffered from the disease because he had nearly committed suicide. This disease usually affects an individual mentally and results to lack of confidence. Most of the time, people who suffer from the disease fail to receive the appreciation they deserve from the society. This usually results to depression that later leads to a person committing acts that are not acceptable in the society.

            Technology has contributed much in the health industry. With new machines, there are two main coding that doctors use to depict the Axis 1 disorder. Doctors are able to depict the disorder while using the DSM-IV. The technology that doctors apply to depict the Axis 1 disorder in a human body is DSM-IV. Meanwhile, the doctors may also be able to depict the rate of Axis 1 while using the analysis of axis II. The disease may be severe and reach to a point of affecting a person while protruding various symptoms. In such a case, doctors refer such a patient to be a paranoid individual.

            Although Body dismorphic disorder is a serious disease when it affects an individual, the essential part to note is that the disease has a cure. The disease becomes complicated when it has matured in the human body within a long period. Doctors advise patients that when the symptoms of disease appear, a person ought to visit a clinic and seek medical attention. When the doctors are able to depict the disease early, they are able to treat the patient and help in living a normal life.
