Representatives position on public health issues

Chris Collins a, house of representative official , has been vocal on the need to have quality and affordable health care plans and has even initiated such programs in order to address the issues. This is seen in his reaction to the possibility of large increase in the health insurance premiums especially the Blue Cross Blue Shield arraignments accessible to the residents of New York. This is also seen in his opposition for Obamacare Act which he terms as to have failed fir many of America people. In fact, voted for the replacement of Obamacare Act with American Health Care Act which is aimed at cost reduction, improvement on access and providing the right health care system to Americans. He see the passage of the American Health Care Act as being a way to towards ending the health care problems  brought about by Obamacare (Chris Collins , 2017). By increasing the competition and giving people power to choose on their own the best health care , Chris sees the results as a drastic enhancement of the failures of the previous health systems. Aside from the tax savings, he sees the legislation as a way of enhancing affordability and access to healthcare and removing the over $800 billion fees and taxes related. He views such changes as important in trying to ensure that health care systems do not become a burden to society due to large amount of finances required (Chris Collins , 2017). This can be viewed in relation to the proposed elimination of employer and individual mandate, where many job creators, workers and families into government plans that failed to cater for their needs. The bill also offers protection to people with pre-existing health conditions through making it illegal for insurance firms from using such conditions as basis of denying coverage , rescinding coverage and preventing the firm from increasing premiums on such people. By ensuring that even people with chronic health conditions are catered for, the congressman seeks to ensure health care is affordable to all people(Chris Collins , 2017).

Senator Chuck Schumer, a democrat in US senate, is view health care is a fundamental right for everyone. He believes on the need to move the issue forward so as every person is accorded their right to better and affordable health care. His support for affordable and quality health care includes the support for importation of prescription drugs that are cheaper from Canada so that they can be affordable to consumers and voting yes on the regulation on tobacco as one of the major drugs (Steinhauer, 2017). The availability of cheaper drugs in the market, comprising of accessible generic alternatives, and a competition on the basis of prices will result and this will further lower prices. To the senator, the regulation of tobacco products especially given that smoking has become rampart among high school children who are not old enough to purchase cigarettes. The senator also voted for the expansion of Health Insurance program for children and especially targeting pregnant women with low-income. The motion also supports the inclusion of legal immigrants hence, ensuring that the entire population is able to access affordable health care. In addition, his previous support for expansion of inclusion of more people into the health insurance coverage goes a long way to show his opinions on health care issue ((Steinhauer, 2017).

Richard N. Gratified, the representative in New York State Assembly has raised his concerns about the high cost of health care especially by highlighting the major flaw in Obamacare Act (Gratified, 2017). He sees the Act as living the public in the mercies of insurance firms which has led to increase in deductibles, premiums and even provider network. There are huge administrative hindrances and profits from the policy while health facilities and physicians incur huge costs in the process. His opinion is that a person in America should fail to receive health care or even be subjected to financial problems in the processing of paying for it (Gratified, 2017). Corey Johnson A member of 3rd District – New York City Council has been very vocal in opposing the repealing of Obamacare. His opinion is that health care is a basic right for all people in New York and the Act provides for such.  According to Corey Johnson, affordable public health care should be pegged on Public Health System financial stability so as to enhance access to health care, and has in the past voted for a city budget with a focus on communities that are hard to reach (City and State NY, 2017).  He has supported the policies that target health wellbeing of old people through the expansion of care centers for adults who have been neglected. He also beliefs in a health care where people  living with health conditions such as HIV and hepatitis can get mandatory health cover. This is the reason for opposing the repealing of Affordable Health Care Act which he deemed as necessary for mandatory health care (City and State NY, 2017).

Summary

All the representatives have a common goal which is to ensure that health care services are provided to the public members at the appropriate quality and price. Their arguments revolve around the support for and against the repealing for Affordable Health care Act and replacing it with American Health Care. Chris Collins believes in the provision of health care coverage based on the forces of the market, allowing competition to increase among health insurance firms so that the public can choose their best coverage. Senator Chuck Schumer believes in mandatory health care provision but has been pushing for a consultative creation of health care plan.

Richard N. Gratified cites the flaws in the Obamacare Act which leaves firms at the mercies of health coverage service providers hence raising the cost. Corey Johnson believes in health care service is a basic right for all people. This shows that the idea is the same, only that different approaches are used in arriving at the appropriate health care system that will be affordable to all public members. The impacts of the different approaches adopted by these representatives should be reviewed jointly so that the right system is arrived at. This requires that all of them drop their hard stands and establish a health care policy that will ensure accessibility is achieved. The policy should comprise of improving the public health care facilities, introducing health care programs that services the low income earners and health insurance coverage that does to discriminate against the disadvantaged in the society or people with exiting health issues.
