The news article reports that under some specific conditions ,  Zika virus can live for some hours on non-porous surfaces that are hard and still continue being highly contagious. The virus can effectively be killed by some common disinfectants. The virus is reported to be normally transmitted in human due to an infected mosquito bite, and can also be transmitted through the environment if someone has uncovered cuts and comes into contacts with the microorganism (American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, 2016).There are no cases of general public infection with the virus via the environment, but there is a recorded case of the virus infection after being acquired in a laboratory. The research revealed that when the virus was in an environment that has no blood , the cleaning agents used in clinical , industrial and lab settings apart from pH 10 and pH 4 were very effective but results differed in environments where the was presence of blood.  This research can have some essential implications for people working in lab or health settings. This is true for the researchers and healthcare providers who must consider the environmental organic load such as blood before resolving to use a product in inactivation of the virus (American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, 2016).

The information provided in the article relate to the MBI 111, given that the course involves the science dealing with micro-organisms such as the Zika virus microbe.  This relates to microbiology, a discipline that involves fundamental research on the micro-organisms clinical aspects including how the agents respond to the host. The clinical presentations of this virus fever need to be understood and be differentiated with other viruses. In essence, it relates to how microbes enter, establish and multiply in a host.
