PUBLIC HEALTH

PUBLIC HEALTH

The article has shocking revelations about how Ebola has evolved with time to become the worst enemy in Africa. I am worried about the trend the epidemic that has torn many West African countries as it has claimed over 11,000 lives than any other previous outbreak. It is worrying as the number of the deaths is contributed by some factors that that can be avoided. These factors include collapsing health care facilities, mobile population, neglect by officials and perilous burial practices by the communities (Zimmer, 2016). These factors can be avoided and facilities such as the public health can be made improved in order to reduce the number of deaths. It is saddening that a new research conducted shows that the Ebola virus has advanced into a new weapon that seals its self against human hosts. The genetic mutation of the virus has made it more deadly as it has improved its ability to find its way in the human cells (Zimmer, 2016).

The revelation by this article has changed my perception about the current heath policy that there is much that needs to be done. Officials in charge of the healthcare facilities seem to neglect their duties resulting in more deaths (Zimmer, 2016). There is no enough collaboration between the governments of the affected African countries in order to develop policies that will see every nation educate its citizen on how they can prevent themselves from contracting the virus as well as educating them on the advantages of adopting modern burial practices that will minimize the spread of the dangerous disease. These means that the policies put in place are not sufficient to contain the deadly virus (Zimmer, 2016). Drastic measures should be taken in order to keep the virus at a distance.
