A Piece of Legislation (State or National) Supported By Libertarian Party

  • A Piece of Legislation (State or National) Supported By Libertarian Party
  •             As a member of the Libertarian Party, we do not support the bill requiring schools to teach gay history. The bill requires the youth to know and understand the historical accomplishment of the gay and lesbian people in the state of California. The reason for supporting the bill is that it promotes the practice of homosexuality to the young people. According to the definition of the bill, it states that everyone has the right to know and do what everything provided is allowed by the law. Whoever is eligible of committing any crime has to face the law as referred in the bill. The bill is among the new ones introduced in the year 2009 and referred on the judicially committee.
  •             Members of the House contributed in supporting the motion even though some were against various sections enacted in the bill. Many of those who supported the bill were the Democrats arguing that, it creates a chance for the young children to know what they might encounter if they chose becoming gay or lesbians. They voted with a large turn out that accounted to beyond ninety percent. However, according to the view of members in our group, no one could have supported the bill because it promotes expose of issues that are against the social norms to the future generation.
  •             The bill’s main theme is requiring the gay and lesbian people to offer their contributions in the learning curriculum of all the California state schools. The democrats insists that an individual committing what he/she feels right is acceptable, provided the action does not affect the life of any other person in the society. They argue that the choice of sexuality is a personal obligation and one has the right to control over it. Some of the statements indicated by the democrats’ leaders illustrated that people should not base an individual faith in Christianity by personal actions. This simply concludes that gay people may pose as Christian figures and offer advice to the children in our schools. Members of the Libertarian party cannot support their children to be brainwashed with anti-Christian education.
  •             This is the first bill of its type in the state of California. Governor Jerry Brown who is also a democratic declared in public that he supports the bill before signing it. An interview with the California Assemblyman known as Donald Wagner illustrated that he is one of the people who oppose the bill, as it does not offer a good example to the minors. He stated that the bill gained its passage in the state Assembly after making a vote of 49-25 but none of the Libertarian party member offered any support to the bill. According to Wagner, it was unfortunate that the bill could have indicated that no such lessons would ever be indicated in the school curriculum.
