This, therefore, implies that averages over a million occupations will be created. The rise is projected given that the growth of population which is gradually occurring will result in an increase for food services and preparations demand as well as all other related occupation as individuals are highly likely to engage in dining out more in the near future. Most employment opportunities for Head Cooks and Chefs are projected to be situated within food services companies with an inclusion of restaurants. In addition, working opportunities will be generated by the need of replacing workers leaving the occupations and competition are inevitable.

Typically, Chefs and head cooks are mainly responsible for overseeing all foods preparations at different locations such as restaurants, getaways, and food service outlets. In this context, they offer direction to all the kitchen workers while handling any given concerns regarding food. The entry Chef and head cooks’ academic level is a higher diploma or any equivalent qualification with annual earnings of $43,180 every year (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). Most of them acquire their skills via working experiences and exposure while most of it is acquired from technical institutions, community or nationally based colleges. The lowest number acquires learning from apprenticeship initiatives.

Apparently, a Chef or head cook’s occupation is characterized by a number of advantages and limited disadvantages. From a personal perspective, a Chef occupation is advantageous because it is a form of art that is based on diversity. One gets to learn about different cuisine and food cultures through the preparation practice (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). An additional advantage is the job’s prospect. In almost all restaurants there must be a Chef of food supervisor and as an expert Chef, one can work in universities, hotels, restaurants, nursing and catering institutions and so on. The demand for food services and preparations lies in every organization. Chefs are linked with luxurious working status and in this case, they are able to travel to different parts globally thus meeting new things and experiencing new cultures. In addition, to the capability of acquiring jobs in every sector, there are more opportunities in acquiring long-run contracts. The salary is never fixed as it depends on the employment institution thus working in prominent organizations such as five-star hotels guarantees advanced salaries (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). The Chef is a fun occupation because it is based on creativity, passion and being diverse.

However, a Chef professional is a stressful one given that it is mentally and physically demanding. Most of the time is utilized on the job and one has barely any time to utilize in other activities (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1). This might deny individuals the opportunity to connect with families and friends thus possessing low social skills. Basically the professional is more beneficial than harmful but passion is a major necessity in sustainability and skills development. Advancement opportunities are acquired with skills growth and experience of about five years given that there are no mistake rooms in the profession.
