Part B

Though the Chinese people have tried to assimilate the western communication style, there still exist a huge difference in the way they interact with their fellow countrymen, the western people and the world at large. The main function of Chinese style of communication is based maintaining their relationships with various individuals while adhering and putting more emphasis on status and role differences, with and ultimately aiming at preserving harmony within a group. Unlike the Western styles which may appear to be individualistic and hasty, the cultural norms in Chinese communication is geared toward serving a group. Thus, while communicating people express themselves through the way they relate to others, and thus feeling whole only if they can integrate with others and surroundings successfully. The communication style aim at strengthening bonds, creating and preserving harmony among family members, neighbours and co-workers. Their language and culture are closely interrelated (Sartor, 2014).

Part C

Communication between two parties in different countries involves cross-cultural communication since both individuals come from different background. When writing to a person from a different country, one should consider various factors that dictates whether the intended information transfer will be successful or not. The first consideration one should have is the language and non-language codes. Various countries have more than one dialect that are used nationally. The language code refers to various linguistic problems that include the context and semantics. It is necessary for the writer to have an understanding of the meaning and usage of words in order to avoid miscommunication with the receiver (Yue, 2012). Non-language code relates to a country’s culture and it supplement a language, thus helping effective cross-culture communication between various individuals. The other consideration is cultural beliefs and values. When addressing a person from a different country, the righter should consider that some communication styles are aimed at individualism while others are collective. While one culture may value individual autonomy and goals over the interests of a group, another culture upholds collectivism over personal need (Yue, 2012). The writer should observe such matters while addressing the receiver.
