Writing a Persuasion Essay

Persuasion is an attempt to influence someone in their own belief, intentions, motivations, attitudes or even behaviors. It is true to say that persuasion takes a broad spectrum of situations. Persuasion can be used in written or spoken words to convey the information, feeling and reasoning. This can be used for personal gains, such as in sales or political campaigns. Persuasion has its elements that drives it in order to influence different people (Stewart, 2015).

Credibility plays a great role in persuasion. This will involve building trust and expertise which must be earned. Individuals will have to believe that the one pursuing them have the expertise and they are worth of their trust. In order to pursue an individual one must be sure that any information that he or she is going to be used will be credible and free from judgement.  This will help to prevent any individual being pursued from having a questioning mind (Stewart, 2015). A solid argument will is also a key element of persuasion. This is to ensure that the argument is sensible in order to elude to those who are already opposed to one's ideas. The argument must be consistent, can strike emotions, can address the interest of those being pursued favorably, can also neutralize any competing alternatives and can also endorse any objective and authority. Understanding the audience is also a key element of persuasion. This will involve identifying centers of influence and decision makers (Stewart, 2015). Effective communication is an element of persuasion. This appeals to the people’s emotions involving the human desires and values. In order to build and maintain commitment involving strategic plans effective communication has to be appealing to both hearts and minds (Stewart, 2015).

Credibility is the most influential element of persuasion. This is because it deals with the most critical aspect of persuasion. It is so difficult to build trust on someone regarding oneself. Trust must be earned. Also building expertise on will require one to be devoted and committed. In all, it is not an easy task (Stewart, 2015).

Politicians must use the key element of persuasion in order to be voted in and have large numbers supporting them. A politician should be credible in his politics. This will enhance the trust the people have for him. A politician must also be solid in his argument in order to have a competitive advantage over his opposes in order to strike emotions on his followers. Understanding the audience and identifying the audience centers and the decision makers will be of great assistance to maintain a good number of followers. In order to achieve all this, the politician must be able to communicate effectively with the followers. This will create an understanding between the audience and the politician (Stewart, 2015).

An advertiser will need to pursue the audience when marketing the goods and services. The advertisement must be credible for the audience to trust the advertiser. The advertisement also needs to lay the argument in a proper manner in order to catch the audience emotions and pursue them that the products are the best. For it to be effective the audience must also understand the audience preference in order to be in a position to offer what they desire and value. In order to be successful, the advertiser must consider how to effectively communicate with the audience in the different commercial in order to capture their attention (Stewart, 2015).

Recently I was involved with the task to convince my project mates on how we can finish the project earlier than the normal time so that we can have some time for ourselves away from the project. Understanding the audience played the great part in convincing them since I knew what every one of us wanted. It was not so difficult to do so because no one hates free time.
