  • Introduction
  •             One of the significant advantages of technology is the introduction of various new devices that assist in making communication easier. Technology has played a crucial role in wireless mobile communications making it possible to access information from different geographical locations. Introduction of various access methods enhance possible transmission of wireless communication. Some of the methods that contribute to possible transmission include:
  • Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA)
  •             This method assists to access communication in digital cellular wireless. The method also makes it possible to access multiple techniques in order to apply in several digital cellular systems. In this particular system, which is also a radio system, users manage to pass their information through the cell’s base station.  The base station then manages to communicate with the rest of the world. In order to facilitate the communication in this method, copper wires are used. Comparing with other methods, TDMA tends to have several advantages. One of the advantages is that the system is able to provide accessibility of communication where users at certain location can be able to share common radio. On contrary, the disadvantage of this method is that users of the system have a predefined time slot (Firestone, 2009).
  • Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)
  •             This method refers to a system in which there are a number of channels distributed to different users to share the wireless communication (Powell & Shim, 2009). The method is implemented at the headquarters for networking protocol. This particular method allows users to have an opportunity of assigning to each channel at a time. Through other advanced means, it is possible to get three channels from each FDMA channel. One of the advantages of this method is that it is possible to use by both analog and digital. On contrary, one of the disadvantages is that users may be disrupted due to interferences among frequencies. Crosstalk is the main cause of the interruptions that might occur (Powell & Shim, 2009).
  • Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)
  •             This refers to one of the channels used as an access method. Most of the radio communication technologies apply this method in order to access information via wireless applications. This method of communication also can simply apply to any of the protocols under second-generation (2G) (Powell & Shim, 2009). This particular method also applies to all the protocols under the third generation of wireless technology (3G). Moreover, the method is multiplexing that means it allows a number of several signals to occupy a single transmission channel. However, by doing so, the method encourages optimization of available bandwidth. Another significant issue to consider is that CDMA assist in application of analog to digital. This method tends to have several advantages over the others in the fact that the signals employed in the system occupy a much greater bandwidth (Powell & Shim, 2009).
  • Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)
  •             This is one of the methods of encoding various data. Through this method, it is possible to encode various types of digital data on multiple carriers. This method enhances application of wireless technology through dividing the available spectrum. The spectrum is divided to different channels in by making them narrowband. The sub channels then are eligible to experience a flat fading leading to simple equalization. One of the advantages of this system is that several users can be able to transmit data at the same time even though it is low rate. The disadvantage of this system is that it results to phase noise. Sometimes, there is high sensitivity to frequency (Firestone, 2009).
  • Explain radio frequency (RF) transmission characteristics
  •             Radio frequency includes different elements that contribute to accessibility of information. Some of the elements include broadcast antennas and portable radio systems. Others include microwave antennas and satellite (Powell & Shim, 2009). Moreover, radar is one of the components that enhance application of radio frequency. The field of radio frequency tends to have an electric component. The field also has magnetic components. Combination of the two components creates a specific location of radio frequency environment. Both of the components are measured per meter. Another characteristic of radio frequency is that it has to be a combination of a wavelength and a frequency. The most significant advantage of the radio frequency energy is that it helps in providing telecommunication services. The disadvantage of this system is that there must be large amount of power in order for the system to operate accordingly (Powell & Shim, 2009).
  • Conclusion
  •             Wireless technology tends to be advancing day by day. The technology has helped in the dramatic improvement of communication. These are the fruits of improvements in technology. All the methods explained above helps users to access wireless communication. However, some of them have more advantages compared to others. Through technology, there is a probability that more methods may emerge in future.
