development, particularly my cognitive development?

Social context refers to the immediate environment in which individuals live. Normally, our social context can influence our development in many ways more especially to our cognitive development, which refers to the development of ability to think and reason (Lurii︠a︡, 1976). Due to many things that are carried out in our immediate environment, we are able to develop our thinking and reasoning capacity. This means that the ways in which people develop are more influenced by social context. For instance, social context may influence our peer relationships. Additionally, our social context may influence our cognitive development as it helps in shaping our language development. The fact that our language are the one that shape our personality, it can be seen that social context is a powerful tool that enhances our cognitive development (Keil, 1992). Things that take place in our social context can also influence our development. For instance, if a child is born in a family where older people are respected, he or she will grow knowing that it is moral to respect our elders, as they deserve.

Our immediate environment also influences our moral actions. This is because when a child in born in a family where children are taught moral behaviour, he or she will grow knowing how to carry herself in a moral way. However, if a child is born in a family where children are not taught moral things, he or she will end up being an indiscipline person. This shows that it is essential for one to be grown in a social context where people carry out moral things. This is because the child will grow up following things that were done in his or her society. From the above, it can be seen that social context can influence our development especially our cognitive development.
