Self-assessment

Summary

             It is through this process of self-assessment that I was able to realize of the great potential that I have on some areas of life while there are others that I am not good at. One of the great parts of life that I am well competent in is in leadership. I have quite great leadership qualities such as selflessness when it comes to assisting other people and that also includes inspiring and team work. In terms of career path, I prefer an organizational that supports the employees and encourages quite a good relationship amongst all the employees. I also have a great interest in organizations that encourage creativity of the employees and innovativeness. Management of an organization is also paramount in any organization hence I prefer those organizations that have good management. My preference is on traditional office setting rather than telecommuting where I can be able to go to the office and carry on my tasks hence enabling me to work on a wide range of interesting projects. Thus I have medium preference for telecommuting practice. I also have good listening skills as I love listening to what others are saying and avoid any form of bias and attitude that may affect my listening skills.

Insight

            Leadership concept basically refers to the capability to lead basing on skills that is highly sought to deal with people by leading them and encouraging team work thus motivating, enthuse and also building respect among all people. Leaders in most cases lead others and their main interest is on others (Yukl et al 3). Organization culture concept is a concept where the employees have shared goals, values and beliefs that govern how human resources behave in the organization.

These are the values that strongly influence the employees in organization and dictates how things are done in the organization. Telecommuting concept is a new work arrangement where employees work at the comfort of their homes without commuting to the place of work. This has been enhanced by the technological advancements that have allowed the use of technology while working hence reducing physical appearance to work. This will however be determined by the type of organization and the management of that organization. Listening skills concept is a skill that involves active participation towards listening to others as they talk. This involves giving of full attention to the speaker, staying focused to listening, allowing the speaker to finish before interrupting, asking questions and giving back of feedback (Sypher et al 295).

Implication

            Leadership is quite important and being a leader requires so much sacrifice for others and engages others towards the fulfillment of a common vision. Thus it is important for a person to have good leadership skills. A good leader ought to have good listening skills so as to be able to set a good example that others can follow. It is important to always listen and give others a chance to state what they have and this allows people to come to a consensus and to understand each other. The organization culture is important as it determines the kind of organization.  In this case organization management should enhance the sharing of ideas by all the people in the organization so as to ensure that there is collaboration and cohesion that results to the success of the people and the organization. Telecommuting is important especially with the changes in technology and everything around us but in organization that I am interested in traditional office setting is the best since it will allow team work within the organization more efficiently than while telecommuting.
