Questions and Topics We Can Help You To Answer:

The paper is to talk about Milton Glaser.
Better find the source from King Library Articles & Databases at <library.calstate.edu/sanjose/databases>.
Use legitimate sources(3), Chicago Style formats, a Work Cited page, and in-text source citations for all quoted and paraphrased material. (Use of invalid Internet sources and all incidents of plagiarism will not be allow.) Papers are to present clear thesis statements; well-structured discussions supported by relevant facts from readings, lecture and independent research; and strong summary conclusions. Following course emphases, each assigned topic asks you to research and address the political, cultural and/or social context(s) surrounding production and reception of your assigned topic. Consider these papers as highly polished versions of an exam essay and use examples from lecture, course readings, exhibit captions, and other materials as needed to emphasize or clarify your point(s). Begin discussion of each example of graphic design with a brief, objective description (usually two-three concise sentences will suffice).
Topic: Include the following areas in the final paper (other issues can be included):
• Who or what are you writing about? How is the design work typified (describe a typical work)?
• Discuss three specific examples of your chosen trend in graphic design, and include a captioned illustration of at least two examples. Standard format is to set each illustration on a separate page at end of paper. Standard caption format: Fig. 1: Designer Name, Title of Work, date, medium, location. Include client information if available.
• What does the realized design look like and why does it look this way? Can a connection be drawn between final design and the theoretical intents and ideologies of its designer? Consider choice of materials, forms, how created or manufactured, and other design factors in answering this
question.
• What is or was the context of the design? What social, technological, ideological and/or other factors contributed to the ideation and production of the work as well as its reception? What writings, reviews, speeches and/or other announcements formalize the intent of the design? What
phrases describe the designs, and what resonance do they have with non-design issues (i.e., what is the context)?
• Conclude with a discussion of your designer's approach and real or potential influence in his or her field of design. Does the featured design fit into a larger design trend and/or philosophy?
Does the designer represent the vanguard of a new approach to design?
• Format: Submit the final group paper with a cover sheet, in-text source citations and captioned illustrations, the graded individual papers, and copies of the specific page or screen print-out for
each source used.
