Legalization of Marijuana

Questions and Topics We Can Help to Answer
Paper Instructions;

Policy briefs are usually written by staff who work for legislators or other policymakers. The purpose of briefs is to “briefly” summarize the key issues and the “state of knowledge” regarding topics to be considered and acted upon by policy makers (most are not longer than 5 pages). They also show the pros/cons of the policy and the arguments made by people on different sides of the issue. Importantly, they also include a recommendation on how to act or vote and the likely response from constituents (e.g., if constituents will like it and if not, how to answer their questions/complaints). For this class you can write a policy brief on either a proposed new sentencing law, correctional policy, or make an argument regarding budgetary inclusion for specific correctional needs. Page requirement: 8-10.
