  •             The article states that the legal system in America helps in making the society have their right addressed in the correct manner. According to the citizens of America, the legal system is like a bridge. This is because it helps the nature of the community to change in the right way. The article illustrates that the entire legal system in America was a product of the society after demanding it in for a long time. The Supreme Court poses as the highest court in America. According to the article, the US Constitution fails to explain various duties and powers that the Supreme Court upholds. The government of America created a constitution that initially did not indicate the necessary materials that could show how the authorities and operations of the entire judicial system were to operate.
  •             The article depicts that the first bill that the government introduced in the country constituted the judicial act of year 1789. The act divided America in 13 districts that further gave birth to various districts in the country. The American developed the need for Supreme Court in order to ride what the citizen viewed as the only solution to various battles that they had. The article illustrates that the Supreme Court came into action by the beginning of year 1790. The first court of this type comprised six active judges. The article indicates that the Supreme Court spent its first session in determining the powers and duties that it was to withhold. The first Chief Justice was John Ray who acted between the years 1789 and 1795. The Chief Justice came from New York City.
  •             The article depicts that the Supreme Court was not well-defined in the first years of its operations. For example, the Supreme Court was not clear whether it had the powers to offer a consideration in opinion passed by the congress. John Marshall who was the Chief Justice in the year 1801 played a significant step in defining the powers and roles of the court. The Supreme Court helped in facilitating various decisions that were against the discrimination of people according to their race, color or ethnic group.
  • Question 4: Cartoons-Review the cartoons (in Week 5 lecture on page 5 and 7) and discuss how they help explain white privilege. (At least 150 words, double-spaced with proper grammar).
  •             The cartoons on page 5 help to demonstrate the burden that the white people were carrying in their life. They could value themselves as inferior to the black American because of the skin color. Although the white people were privileged to have the opportunity of accessing the most important essentials in the society, they also carried the burden of failing to over humanity to values to the black. The cartoons also depict that the white runs their lives as every body else in the society. They have problems that affect their live as human beings.
  •             The cartoons therefore illustrates that many people misunderstand the word privilege. The word privilege should not mean that one is in a favored state, neither means that has more disadvantages of life than the other does in terms material things.   On page 7, the article states that privilege ought to refer to strengths that an individual have to perform certain duties. Privilege is beyond the boundaries of race and sex in the community. The article also indicates that those who got privilege should appreciate the honor and do well to others in the society. The cartoons help in illustrating that even the whites who seem to be more privileged have more burdens that they carry in their lives.
