Paper Instructions:

 

  1. Assignment overview:
    Select a technical object and write a description of its looks, features, and functions. Define and describe a technical object to someone unfamiliar with it.
    2.    Assignment guidelines: 
    Begin by reviewing Gurak and Lannon, chapter 12; description.  You will choose your own topic for the assignment, the subject of your description should be technical object ( eggs. Fitness tracker, flash drive, wrench, clock radio, calculator, smart phones and  game console  etc)
    3.    Provide a one sentence definition of the object. Preview its various parts, describe its various uses and functions, preview the content of your description. Describe each part of the object in details including dimensions, materials, principle of operations, functions and relation to each other.
    4.    Use the present tense. 
    5.    Re- state the major uses and functions of the object to solicit the audience support. 
    6.    Document design and illustrations:
    Use headings and sub headings throughout the document.  Make the introduction, body and conclusions of your document with headings and sub headings to indicate the beginning of each part of the object describing. Clearly identify each parts.
    7.    Single space the text.
    8.    Include at least two 2 illustrations.  Use illustrations from other sources, source information below each illustrations.  E.g. any photos you took,  source the author. 
    9.    Apply many basic design principles as possible.
    10.    Design document for consistency ( grid patterns, font style and size, indentation, margin, justification and white space).
    11.    Design document for navigation and emphasis ( headings,  color, shading and boldface).
    12.    Your technical object description should reflect your attention to audience in both content and design . 
    13.    Design should be user friendly.
    14.    NOTE Also, don't forget you are not writing a  “ commercial” for a particular object : you are writing an objective detailed description of the object.
    15.    Headings are in parallel form, paragraph are unified each paragraph has a single focus.
