Chapter 1 of the book The Color of Christ, Contains information concerning a young Indian slave with the name Tituba, who had an encounter with the devil in Salem. Tituba was testifying during the Salem Witch Trials, where she claimed to have seen the devil. She was terrified to see the devil, and he demanded to worship him and to harm the children of the village (Blum & Harvey, 2012). This testimony therefore relates to Major Problems in American History, whereby the Azteca had no one to support them, and so they died from the swords of the Spaniards soldiers. This is in the sense that Jesus was like a savior who came to save people from the devil, but in Tituba’s case no one was there to save her (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012).

Chapter 1, section 2, of the book The Color of Christ, talks about the Native American’s first encounter with Jesus Christ (Blum & Harvey, 2012). Their encounter with Jesus was historic in the sense that at some instance they would embrace him, but they would later reject him. As time went by and decades past, they found it very hard to ignore Jesus. During that period, different communities had their own religions and it was so hard for one to convince them to follow Jesus. This story therefore relates to Major Problems in American History, when the people of Virginia were murdered by some people whom they perceived to be their friends. They therefore welcomed them and after they killed their people, they hated them. The same applies to Jesus, since the Native Americans loved Jesus at first and later came to hate him (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012).

Chapter 1 section 1, of the book Major Problems in American History, Contains information concerning how the world was in the beginning (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). The author therefore talks about a man and his wife who was pregnant, and she was craving for different types of food. This story is therefore relates to The Color of Christ, when it talks about how the world was formed, and how people came into being during creation.

Chapter 1, section 4, of the book Major Problems in American History, talks about the lamentation of the Portuguese military losses in Western Africa, in the year 1448. Alvaro Fernandez together with his men, were travelling towards Cape Verde, and when they reached the Guinea Island where there was a village, they stopped where they met two men who were guarding the village, and Alvaro Fernandez killed him with the use of his lance, and took the spear that he had. This story therefore relates to The Color of Christ, when the village of Salem was under the control of the devil, only for Jesus to come in order to save his people (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 1, section 6, of the book Major Problems in American History, talks about the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). Spanish soldiers dressed in iron cloths, with swords arrived in huge numbers under the command of Cortes. Moctezuma, who was also the leader of the Aztec, was shocked and he started weeping. Later the all his property was confiscated before the Spanish soldiers killed each and every Aztec who was on sight. The story relates to The Color of Christ, when Tituba was being disturbed by the devil, as he asked to worship and even pulled her hair. This time the village of Salem did not have anyone to protect them from the devil, the same as the Aztec’s since they did not have anyone to protect them from the Spaniards (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 2 of the book Major Problems in American History, talks about an attack which was undertaken in the Early Virginia settlements in the year 1622 (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). This was after some Indians who were trading with the residents of Virginia, borrowed a boat and sailed with the savages who were friendly to them, and ended up murdering them. This relates to The Color of Christ, when the Native Americans first encountered Jesus, they loved him at first, but later came to hate him (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 2, Section 3, of the book Major Problems in American History, is about the message which John Winthrop as he provides Christians with ways through which they can be of help to the society and one another (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). He therefore asks Christians to remain friendly to each other, and to love one another, in order to be able to do according to the teachings of God. In addition, he asks to act as good examples, in order to make God to feel happy. This story therefore relates to The Color of Christ, when Jesus was passing his teachings to the people, asking them to love one another (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 3, Section 2, of the book Major Problems in American History, when all the people who moved to England and were not Christians in their homes, were turned into slaves and sold (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). This story therefore relates to The Color of Christ, when people used the name Jesus in order to justify slavery in the world. They therefore lied that Jesus was white, and he therefore symbolized slavery (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 3, section 5 of the book Major Problems in American History, this section talks about a preacher who asked his flock to burn all their idols in order to get saved (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). They therefore started books in the public street. This story therefore relates to The Color of Christ, when Jesus asks his follows to burn all the idols, and worship none other than his father who is also God and the creator of the universe (Blum & Harvey, 2012).

Chapter 3, section4, of the book Major Problems in American History, this section shows an image of slaved working in a tobacco plantation (Cobbs, Blum & Gjerde, 2012). They are working very hard in order to be able to satisfy the needs of their masters. This section therefore related to The Color of Christ, where Americans have decided to use the name Jesus Christ, as a symbol of encouraging slavery, meaning that slavery should continue and slaves should work for the whites, since they are like Jesus (Blum & Harvey, 2012).
