Health Care Reform
Health issue: health care disparities and lack of quality health care reform
The purpose of introducing health care reform issue is to understand whether there are measures taken to ensure that all people including women have access to quality care (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003). This is the major health issue I introduced to the senator. This is because, since the Affordable Care Act was established, there is lack of access to quality care as some Americans are not covered. Writers who offer nursing assignment help at Edudorm essay writing service notes that the other point is that low-income families particularly women are uninsured and they face challenges in accessing healthcare. Other issue on health care is that veterans are denied mental health care. This is an issue of consideration since this condition need treatment in order to reduce the high rate of suicide with veterans (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003). On issue of health, Patty Murray voted for three health care votes based on health care reform. On the position of health care, Murray focus on quality health care, reducing health care cost, provision of mental health coverage, availability of landmark research to improve health care, employing enough health care workers and implementing prevention efforts.
Will health care reform address mental problems?
Answer; there is a mental health summit which its purpose is to restructure the mental health care system. The key priorities are to reinforce the health care workforce, ensure the provision of primary mental health care, and address crisis response and problems with mental illness stigmatization. There are a development of bipartisan legislation and the purpose of this is to ensure that poor families have access to mental health care (Porche, 2004). In health care reform, other priority on addressing mental illness is to prevent suicide among veterans. The Mental Health Reform Act of 2016 will ensure that families will live a health life and confront the challenges they face on mental illness. The senator also said that health care reform will address mental problems and success will be achieved since the mentally ill people are currently protected by Mental Health Party and Addiction Equity (Porche, 2004). Also, there are many supported bills which will improve prevention program, improve affordability, cut cost and implement health information technology. This will ensure that mentally ill people in both rural and urban areas will access quality mental health care.
As the senator for Washington, how will you ensure women’s health care coverage and quality health care reform?
Answer; Women, particularly those who come from low-income families face challenges in accessing quality care. To address this issue, Medicaid and Medicare programs should get funding to support the health of women. The senator stated that there is supported legislation and she developed ‘Start Heath, Stay Health Act’ which supports programs which will cover low-income women and children. In addition, there is a renewed CHIP bill which mainly covers children (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003). Health care reform legislation was passed and this will ensure that women will access quality care by eliminating high costs of health care and getting coverage from insurance companies.
How is the issue of non-communicable diseases such as breast and cervical cancer dealt with?
Answer; Screening and treatment are the main priority in fighting breast and cervical cancer. In U.S, a high mortality rate in women is caused by breast and cervical cancer. Even though these are preventable diseases, skills on breast and cervical cancer are limited and nurses lack the screening practices. In fighting non-communicable diseases, this issue is well addressed through early detection (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003). The senator said that it is the responsibility of health political leaders to implement Early Detection Program and will help low-income and uninsured women get treatment. According to Senator Murray, the federal government should be in the front line to fight cancer through funding. All the same, Senator Murray has ensured that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) has enough financial support for cancer screening (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003). In addition, she has ensured that the Medicaid program is supported to address related illnesses with low-income women. There is also health care reform plan legislation which its main purpose is to provide coverage for cancer patients. Experts who offer nursing writing help at Edudorm essay writing service indicates that in current activities, Murray has supported many bills which will support funding and prevention programs which will aid women in accessing quality care. As the senator, she is struggling to support prevention efforts to reinforce wellness, treatment and disease prevention (Hitchcock, Schubert & Thomas, 2003).
I was impressed by the representative because she answered the question in a deeper manner. First, she showed her responsibility and accountability as the senator for Washington in promoting quality health care. In addition, the manner in which she answered the questions about health care reform clearly tells that she values the life of citizens and she expects everyone to live a health and a happy life. She is a political leader who values equality to all people including those who are mentally ill. One thing that makes this political leader appear strong is that she values the health of women particularly low-income families. She shows that it is her responsibility to ensure that they have access to quality health care and they live health life.
