Most of the workload in an organization requires the role of various managers to offer their experience and guide other employees in the organization. This role applies to both organizations headed by either executives from outside or those related to the organization. Organizations run by family members have lately demonstrated that they can also make better incomes. This paper offers a clear demonstration on how business organizations run by family members can shine in performance using the case study of McCoy and Cathy firms.
  •             The personal believes of McCoy and Cathy families really influenced the organization’s culture of their firms. On the case of McCoy families, their business portrays signs of progress due to the hard work that the family members employ in the organization. Most of the McCoy family members hold strong religious believes that relate to the well being of the community. They embrace the need of including strong commitment to the entire community in their business operations. The family believes that offering the best response to members of the community and its workers is the key to success (Cowden & Schermerhorn 126).         
  •             Many of the members have a strong Evangelical Christian Faith that allows them to create a recommendable reputation with members of the society who are their potential customers. They demonstrate their faith by engaging in various social activities that assist improving the welfare of the community (MacDonald & Cheryl 41). The philosophical values related to the McCoy’s family also help in building the organizations reputation. Most of their believes in relation to philosophical values that help in assisting the organization gain more income include the loyalty, skilled employees and focusing on overall success. The beliefs employed by the McCoy’s family help them to succeed in their business operations where they compete with other cooperate organizations (Cowden & Schermerhorn 126).
  •             On the case of Cathy family, most of the members demonstrate the best practices regarding to treatment of customers. “Chick-fil-A”, the business organization that is fully owned by the Cathy’s family holds a strong recommendable aspect regarding to the well treatment of employees. The organization offers its workers a one-day rest in every week, which is the Sunday. The organization has its headquarters located in Atlanta and deal with hospitality services, where it holds a restaurant (Cowden & Schermerhorn 126).
  •             According to the comments made by most of its customers, the organization offers best services when treating of its potential clients. The organization’s employees enjoy the best treatment from the management of the organization and this helps in motivating them. They work hard and this assist in giving back much of the profit to the organization. Cathy also motivates his workers and tells them the need to show respect to all customers. He urges them to always say, “My pleasure”, when customer’s offers thanks on behalf of the organization (Cowden & Schermerhorn 126).
  •             There are many lessons that other organizations can depict from the developing high performance organizational cultures that relate to the above two family run businesses. One the lessons are that there is a need to appreciate the role played by employees. Employees hold the most crucial part in the role. Both the organizations realize the value of building a strong relationship with their employees and this help them in providing better services.
  •             The other lesson that other organizations not run by family members can depict from the two organizations is that unity is one the aspect that creates the backbone of a successful organization. Considering that, both of the family organizations depict the theme of believing in God (Fleming 318). Other organizations ought to hold the same aspect of including spiritual powers in their operations in order to succeed. The organizations should offer flexibility in the working routine of their employees. This helps in creating a strong relationship between the workers and the organization. The other aspect that other organizations ought to learn is that they should engage in the social matters in order to create a strong relationship with members of the public who are the potential customers.
  •             There are many challenges that a new leader who is interested in moving her organization in the same direction of the McCoy or Chick-fil-Culture may face. One the challenges include facing the competition from the emerging niche small organizations that compete in the small-sized cities. This would be an obstacle as most of the family related business performs better in the small –sized cities. The other challenge that such an organization would face is lack of the bond that most of the family members create while working together. Most of the family members hold a relationship that develops a common goal in achieving various goals. This would be one of the challenges that other organizations would have a great challenge to achieve. Family run organizations have easy mechanism of making decisions and this makes things to move faster. Another organization may fail to uphold this aspect.
